FTR: I've opened 10 BB Oros, 2 Champions, and 1 Black Mask in the last 2 weeks. All of them have been great. Bought at release and stored at ~34F (food fridge) since.

Just opened a Black Mask. Drank a bit of it before I poured it down the drain. The metallic tart cherry flavor wasn't very enjoyable at all :frowning2:.

    Lucky you

I'm hoping for good results with my remaining '17 Jackie O's bottles. I still have 3 Champion Ground and 1 BB Oro Negro

I am as well I bought a LOT of '17 BA Jackie O's beers. Although, I'd turn them all in for more Scrip what a fantastic beer.

Had Spirit Beast, BA DA and BA DA vanilla/coffee and all seemed fine.

The Jackie O's blog post mentions returning bottles to them at their production facility.

I contacted Jackie O's via the [email protected] email that @beace listed above, and explained to them that a trip to Athens isn't practical for me. They offered me a few other solutions, one of which I will most definitely take them up on.

Just wanted to give this info for those who might think they are screwed without making a trip to Jackie O's.

Contact them, they will make it right.

That's good to hear they're giving a few other options. I've only got 1 bottle of the potential infected ones, so for me I'm just going to keep it and hope for the best. Not worth driving down, nor is it worth whatever other options will likely be offered. But good to see they are at least trying.

Just had a Champion Ground that tasted like FFF Battle of Charro. God I want this taste outta my mouth!

It really sucks though- my favorite beer, from one of my favorite breweries... drain pour. I. am. so. crushed.

I won't let it get me down though; some of my greatest experiences in my journey of craft beer have been thanks to the magic of Jackie O's. This won't keep me from buying the next release, for sure.

(Everyone please say a Hail Mary for my remaining BB Coffee Oil!)

Why hasn’t anyone called out the wagon guy? Isn’t this all the consumers fault?

They did, and I explained that you could still have drank the beers before they got totally spoiled and soured out . Basically all barrel aged or infused beer (non pasteurized) is potentially infected, yet none of you treat it as such. I mean FFS this isn't even the second time this exact thing had happened with many of these exact beers but people are still cellaring them.

So, what were you hoping to call me out on ?

I just reread the make it right blog and there’s no mention of improving our marketing to let consumers know to drink our beers sooner. The main improvements are to add a new line system and pasteurize the beer. That’s all. Sorry I poked the beer.

Exactly... Because even JO's knows this wasn't an issue with how the consumers handled their beer, it was their fault and they owned it. They've done just about everything right in this situation and I applaud that.

As for Mr Wagon, I really have to applaud the tenacity. Even when the brewery themselves admits there's an issue, he sticks to his guns and puts it on us. It really is impressive.

Yep. Jackie O's realizes that they aren't meeting their internal standards for quality and stability nor are they meeting consumer's expectations for shelf-life for expensive BA beer. Seems like everyone is on the same page except for CantbeWrongoneer.

You need the label to tell you when to drink fresh? If it doesn't say drink fresh why is the default action to cellar?

Surely you all remember when the brewmaster himself came on here and suggested you not age these stouts. Once things are pastuerized you'd be safe from souring but a lot of these use coffee and vanilla and such which drop off over time so it still makes bery little sense to hold on to em.

What world do you live in where drinking a beer two months after purchase is "cellaring" it.

Hell, some of these bottles that are on the possible infection list, I could go pick up off of a shelf right now.

Dude, just move along already. Go find Hoof Hearted hate thread to go play in.

Jackie O's has vintage bottles for sale... at their taproom! One of the bottles being a 2013 Oro Negro. I had it. Its fantastic. Do you really think they would sell "Cellared" beer if they really intended the consumers to drink it FAF like a IPA. Guess the AB Dark App I have has been aged too long. The barrel notes are already diminishing. Damn!

Several people were only opening them this early after hearing they might be infected. Those are the people I'm addressing.

I can also go pickup some 10 month old ipa right now. Doesn't mean that's wise.

I'm also not saying Jackie O's isn't at fault, but a smart consumer is careful with these things. Buyer beware and whatnot. There's just too much misinformation about cellaring beer in this echo chamber.

The fact that Jackie O's is owning this actually helps my case. They are saying stuff happens, even to their beer. These beers aren't good candidates for again, clearly, as I've been saying all along.

And don't get so frustrated over not understanding me that you stoop to insults, leave that to those young buck Hoofy boys, it's unbecoming of you.
