I didn't expect to say this, but the Enigma is really well integrated.

Edit: This might be the latest into the day a release has gone before the eventual, "what's next?" Good job OH!

I opted to go up to Equilibrium this morning, but did swap couple 4s of that for OH 4th Anny when I got back with a buddy who went to OH. They straight up dial it in for the Anniversary beers. 4th Anny is really impressive, especially for the ABV. There is a little bit of burn on the late finish, but as someone noted earlier it is dangerously drinkable. If my recollection of 3rd is right, this tastes really similar but a difference I taste is the addition of Vic Secret. It could be coincidence, but the EQ Fractal Vic Secret from today gave me a more refined view of what it tastes like as the showcase. Anyway, it marries well with the rest of the cluster in the 4th.

While waiting was clearly unnecessary, can't say this is a remotely a true statement. Those future releases are almost assuredly not going to be as good.

No need to rub it in :stuck_out_tongue:

Just kidding, but I guess a lot of us were thinking that way after the hyped releases of Wangies, Triangle Test, and Potatoes. That certainly was the sentiment in line.

funny how that all works. You get the hype of a release which occasionally disappoints, and you get the no hype release like last weekend where they drop a ddh citra-galaxy which to me ranks up there with the best of them.

Kind of like Vegas where you win, you lose and the OH House always wins.

So I did some catch up with the most recent releases and I was honestly pretty underwhelmed, Double Cream Get the Honey was the only standout.

The best beers I had today (haven't cracked any of the Anni beers yet) were the ones someone graciously shared on the line. Trillium Storrowed is straight fire, definitely recommend seeking it out next time they release it. Also got to try Bbbrighttt and Swish, which definitely made waiting in the cold for hours less terrible.

Does this make Dough Hut in Long Beach the Barrier of the NY area? Makes a killer product, easy to buy, very rarely runs out.

Same with me. Got there at 7 and was about 30-40 off from getting 2nd and 3rd. Totally unreal that they didn't bother to list allotments to set expectations. One of the worst beer releases I've been to in terms of organization and the brewery setting terrible expectations. It doesn't speak well of a brewery that sets nearly a case per type limit and you have to be there at 6am to get it for a 10am open. Great beer, but I don't think I'll ever go to release again if it's setup the same way.

Much as I would love more quantity transparency, and just more in general done by OH to discourage lines - to be fair the writing was pretty much on the wall well before release day, that 2 and 3 would require heaving queuing commitment (much heavier than 7am), while 4 would last a while

Yea I feel bad that it seems like a bunch of people got the raw deal after waiting a bunch of hours in the freezing cold. However I agree that the social media buzz meant that there was going to be a big turnout and with low limits that meant you were definitely going to have to show up way earlier than normal. It still wasn't even nearly as bad as potatoes cause at least everyone got 4th Anni.

Just left with a few growlers, which apparently was the right time to go as they told me an hr ago it was nuts in there.

They currently have trillium dialed in and a tired hands/half acre collaboration on tap for pours, no fills.

Are you new here? It’s always been this way. Case counts are never given, thus the impetus to line up earlier and earlier. it’s as if, wait for it... OH incentivizes the line to drive hype.

This is pretty much what 90% of this forum is about - discussing (and bitching) about the lines.

OH could do two things easily: 1) divulge case counts and 2) cut allotments from 1 case. But they usually don’t (note that some popular releases are less than one case and that is great that OH does this).

If that Teku goes on sale online like the JC one I'm definitely going to get one, its the most tacky of this series so far. They also confirmed my suspicions that these were dreamed up because of the Broccoli and Cheddar tekus.

The coolest part of the whole thing is that it's $17.50 for a 4pk of a 10% DIPA.

No MBA here, but I'm going to assume there is a significant COGS disparity between The Veil in RVA and OH in NYC.
