A few weeks ago I got just ONE bottle of this Imperial Brown Ale (Mash and Coconut 2017 Edition). I’ve been doing some research on it whether I should let it age or not and I’m undecided hence the post. I don’t want to risk the coconut hints to fade away with aging, but also I would like to see if it can develop further... Compromise? What are your thoughts on similar styles or if you have aged any beers with similar ingredients (coconut)?

For sure drink asap. The coconut is probably already significantly faded. Seek out a bottle of regular Mash to age.

    "Develop" into what?

And if you've never had it before, how will you know if aging made it better or made it worse?

    Drink it now.

Take a look at the recent Prairie release thread. You'll see varying opinions on aging their beers. Experiences are not university. I agree with the above poster that if you do not consume fresh you have no way of knowing.

Only reason I ever disobey this logic is for something that is virtually universally accepted as "NEEDS" aging.

I could not agree more! This is why I was asking if anyone had any experience with this.

It was also my concern. I always try and get these imperials and barley wines in pairs to try one fresh and put one in the cellar but I could not get a second bottle of this. I'll go with fresh. Wouldn't want to let the coconut fade away. Thank you
