Can you be more specific? Several decent places in Rochester. There a taproom brewery in Winona but it's just OK. If you are going to be near LaCross, WI there's a few good beer bars. The Twin Cities are sort of SE MN so more specific location would be helpful.

Drive over to Fountain to Karst Brewing and then come back here and tell us your experience. SE MN BeerAdvocates are a bunch of slackers.

Winona has Bub's (pronounced boobs) brewing but they don't brew beer.... Still a good bar, get a Grain Belt! They've got craft brews on tap too. Brewski's pub is near the edge of town and has a decent selection of craft, I was there a few weeks ago and had enjoyed the time there. Nice town, Im a Winona state alum and my daughter goes to school there now

Ed's in Winona is a craft beer oasis in an area sorely lacking. But, heck if you're down that way, might as well make the hour and 15 minute drive to Decorah. Forager in Rochester is excellent.

Rochester to Northfield is just about 50 miles and is home to a couple decent breweries. But yeah, if you are in Rochester hang out at Forager and check out the other local places if you feel the need to branch out. if you are traveling in the spring/summer Lanesboro is a really cool little touristy town worth stopping at for an afternoon. Excellent trout fishing anywhere along the Zumbro River. I would second the shout out to Ed's in Winona, good beer selection and really great staff.

Rochester beer bar Tap House, speakeasy the doggery, brewery Forager (good beer and pizza), avoid Kinney Creek unless you want to end your night on a bad note two blocks away from Forager. Karst in Fountain is hit or miss. First time I had there cream ale it was good the next time it tasted terrible like band aids

There is a brewery right on Front St. called Island City Brewing.

Nosh in Lake City has a well curated beer selection. Great place to eat as well.

Grand Rounds would be a good call too wouldn't it? I've only had a few things from there but they seemed solid.

Grand Rounds is a good stop. I dig their IPAs a lot, and they have a $3 happy hour from 3-6.

Forager's beer is excellent, but it's very expensive. It would be easy to spend over $20 getting two pours.

Whistle Binkie's (2 locations) has a solid tap list that tends to be very Minnesota forward.

That’s pretty crazy! Not sure you can do that at any brewery up in the cities.

There are plenty of hose job bars - hop cat, yard house and new Bohemia, but not that high of prices at breweries.

Their prices have kind of pushed me away. I really respect what they're doing as a brewery, and they seem like great folks, but you can go to Pulpit Rock and get a glass of Saftig for $4 and it's as good as any of their hoppy beers.

Forager is good and a little expensive but if you're visiting I think it is definitely worth stopping in. They've got some good food items as well.

I found New Ulm in SE MN to be a fine beer town. They have come a long ways from 30 years ago. Love it there!
