From what I can tell on Twitter, the other unnamed brewery is Vitamin Sea. The mayor tweeted and commented on an article about them, saying something like "we'll be very acquainted soon."

Having not seen anything from VS themselves, feel like he stole some of their shine.

    Couple opening in Marlborough.

Walden Woods Brewing, from what I hear relatively soon.

Lost Shoe Brewery and coffee roaster.

The town of Marlborough was soliciting breweries, looks like they found s couple.

Anyone have any intel on either of these guys?

I believe that none of the principals, of either operation, comes out of an established operation or has an industry background. They're both home brewers.

Greater Good opened the new digs in Worcester this past week. Nice place. Good vibe. Greylock on tape is fantastic.

Of NE breweries that have opened in the past year or so, most focus on haze/juice. Also breweries that opened in the past 7 - 10 years are pivoting to NEIPAs too (Mystic & Idle Hands off the top of my head).

Is 'pivoting' the right word? That would imply they are moving their entire line up over to NEIPAs and they really aren't. Yes they've both added some to their core selection (with great success), but they both are still rather focused on the styles that they have always been known for. You don't walk into either brewery these days and get slammed with a beer menu reminiscent of Lord Hobo. It's one or two NEIPAs and a ton of other great stuff.

I think this fits what Idle Hands is doing very well, but Mystic seems to have had more of it's lineup subsumed by the hoppy stuff. But, they are trying to fund an expansion, so we'll see how that develops as they get their new facility up and running.

I agree that Mystic seems to be a lot more hop focused than in the past. I'm glad that they're doing cans now but so far it feels like 90% of what they can are hoppy pale ales/IPAs. I miss when they made Spectral Evidence or Old Powderhouse.

Update. Tribus Beer Co. in MILFord, CT is shooting for a June opening. Former NEB brewers, Matt v.2 and Seb are sure to succeed. These guys have learned and mentored under one of the best.
