You just have to suck it up and go for it.
Check the weather first, and wind is not your friend.

Like others who have previously posted, my solution is generally to return to my kitchen brewing roots. I use the opportunity to experiment with smaller batches and to see what I can do with extract or partial mashes. As much as I love to brew outside when the weather is nice, there's also something really nice about a relatively simple brew day that doesn't require me to pull out all of my all grain gear.

When I was brewing more it was VA but we had had some cool winter days I brewed in. I mean I was only outside myself when I needed to make additions/check on stuff. I mashed and everything on my sunporch, so that wasn't an issue.

    Gotta brew year round!

We have 3 mauls that get occasional use. I sometimes split by hand while the stepson is using the splitter. I can actually split faster with the maul for 45-60 minutes, then I get tired and have a beer while watching him work.

When it get's below 60 down here, the schools usually close, the stores are ransacked for milk and bread, and outdoor brewing slows. Usually, in those cases, I will suck it up, layer on several down winter jackets, and go for it! Really rain is the only thing that annoys me and makes the brew day less enjoyable.
