What do you think of the $20 price tag on the Barrel society beers? Its in line with the other years and what they've been charging lately for BA beers but I'm not sure its worth the cost. Just seems a bit excessive. I'm on the fence for buying the BA barleywine.

It's a bit steep and I hesitated to give it a try, but there aren't many BA barleywines coming out of taprooms (at least not local to MA) and personally I want to encourage that. At least it's a big bottle. I'll let you know how it is when they tap it this Sunday.

I agree that it being a barleywine does make it interesting. I'm not sure I'd buy it if it was a stout or porter. I'm hoping they start moving to smaller formats like Firestone Walker is. I'd be much more willing to buy a 12 or 16 oz BA beer at around $10-14 even though the cost per ounce might not be a better deal.

Anybody have issues with the one week pickup window in less than a week? Luckily I know I have 2 days where i'll have time to pick up the beer, but it seems like short notice and not a large window if you have a busy schedule. I'm also upset that if you miss the one week but make it the 27th you'll have to pay for the bottles again.

Better than a one day window on a normal release. If you miss your pickup don't they refund you the money?

It is better than the one day pickup time, I guess i'm just used to barrel societies holding bottles for longer. I didnt see anything about a refund in the email or online.

This really isn't a barrel society. Its a pre-sale list. I assumed you were refunded the money but now I don't see anywhere saying that. Further it clearly states no refunds will be provided once the pickup window starts. This seems a bit crazy, you pay for the bottles and if you can't pick them up you're out the $20? They then go on and sell them a second time for another $20? If this is the case then the pickup window is way too short. I'm not sure I'll buy any of their beers unless they increase the pickup window. Even then I'm still not sure with the price point.

Doesn't seem egregious for a BA barleywine. CBC's 375mL bottles are...$11ish? The 750mL format is inconvenient, but maybe other people have more barleywine parties than I do...

Not to pile on the complaints about Night Shift, i really do like them, but i'm a bit disappointed with the Gale release. They really only provided one vague update on the amount left hours before they closed and didnt say if there's any left for today, and it's not on their website.

Yes, these price points are probably in line especially for a barleywine. I think I'm just used to NS being a bit cheaper in general. I swear when I bought Hive Queen last year it was cheaper than the $22 it went last weekend but my memory could be foggy. Generally most NS prices are pretty reasonable, personally I'm not a fan of large formats so it taints my perception a bit.

Wrote up a review on a bottle I had saved from the 2016 batch the other day (it was a miss for me ) and came across the original price ($12) in the process:

You need to calculate the price of a square foot of space over 1 year. Then figure out how many bottles you can fit in that square foot of space to age. Account for inflation (3%). That probably adds about $10/beer over a year.

It is on our website. Gale is still for sale in cans and on draft. Our website is updated on a daily basis: https://www.nightshiftbrewing.com/on-tap/

Just want to point out that Buzz is f*cking lit. It's very much in line with a Trillium Cutting Tiles - @maestrob8 is it primarily Galaxy hopped? And can it be available on shelves for, like, the rest of time?

I'm not big on the honey addition (in general, not specific to Buzz) but it grew on me as I went through the 4 pack. Definitely good stuff and I can only imagine how good it is if you're really into the honey aspect.

Gotta admit, I really am. Galaxy Cutting Tiles is in the running for my favorite beer ever, and Buzz has entered the conversation. It feels... chewier, I guess? A little bit of sweetness and a unique mouthfeel.

    I digs it.

Awesome to hear you all are loving Buzz. We are really proud of that beer. Mosaic and Simcoe are the main hops in the beer.

We will certainly consider it being on shelves more regularly. As you all know the moment its regularly available it suddenly is less cool and not as coveted beer. We much rather see Buzz come and go and keep the excitement alive for that special beer.

A fair point, but it's unique among locally distributed beers; I always look for Exhibit 'A' Danko because there's no real rye IPAs other than it (and that Stoneface one that doesn't really come close in terms of taste) available, and I've never seen a beer like Buzz available in stores regularly or semi-regularly.

    Either way, killer beer.

why does every IPA that comes out have to have Mosaic in it? that's all I can taste
