Craft beer cellar in Clayton and Wine and Cheese Place on Forsyth. Both are within a few minutes of each other. CBC sells singles and always has great stuff on draft.

CBC's staff have always been super nice and helpful when I have stopped in. Also, probably different for most since MN liquor laws suck, but they have taps and you can also buy beer to consume onsite (maybe common at other stores in St Louis too, but for me it was a nice and welcome perk).

I'll be in town this weekend, haven't been since 2015. Aside from Side Project and Narrow Gauge which are already on the list, what other breweries should be on the "must visit" list. I've previously been to 4 Hands and Urban Chestnut if that helps.

Heavy riff, 2nd Shift and Modern are all pretty close to Side Project and definitely worth a visit. Perennial is great if you've never been. Also, Six Mile Bridge is kinda on the way to Narrrow Gauge (depending where you are coming from) and is doing some really good beers. If you want to venture out of town at all then Scratch and Main and Mill are musts

Resurrecting this thread for my beer trip the weekend of 2/9.

OK, so I’ve researched this the best I could on BA. Below is my wish list if I have time.

Any breweries I should add to this list as a "must visit" instead of a "go here because its close to here"?

Is the Grove location of UCB is the place to go?

If we decide to check out Schlafly, which location would you recommend?

Any bottle shops closer to downtown that I should add, or will the ones listed below suffice?

Any restaurants with good beer lists? Already saw the recommendation to hit Pappy's for the ribs.

    Perennial
    Side Project
    Narrow Gauge
    Six Mile
    4 Hands
    2nd Shift
    Urban Chestnut
    Heavy Riff
    Modern
    Civil Life
    Scratch
    White Rooster
    Main & Mill

    Bottle Shops
    Saint Louis Hop Shop
    Craft Beer Cellar
    The Wine and Cheese Shop

    Thanks and cheers.

The Wine and Cheese Place 's main (Forsythe) location is the only bottle shop you'll need, but Lukas Liquour is exceptional too, as is Randall's. Friar Tuck for any rarities.

Perennial/SP, Schlafly (I'd base my decision on events happening, the taproom if it makes no difference), 2nd Shift, Civil Life, Urban Chestnut and 4 Hands in that order are both my favorite taprooms and breweries. Earthbound brewery is great, too.

Imo's Pizza once totally unrelated to beer, Flying Saucer for great/variety of beer and food. I love the food at all of those breweries' pubs. Urban Chestnut's Grove location might be better for food , but the first location may have more beer geeks there.

Pappy's for ribs is definitely a good call....try to park as close as you can to the restaurant, though. I had my rental broken into when I was there for lunch several years back. Also, I'd highly suggest Dressel's Public House. Beer list, though not huge, is typically solid. Regardless of the beer list, the porchetta louie sandwich is worth the trip.

If you go to The Grove location of Urban Chestnut, you can also head across the street to their U.R.B. location. It's where you can try out test batches, give feedback and grab a slice of pizza.

I'm an out of towner but STL regular. I'll also be there this weekend. Go to Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton also. It's near Wine & Cheese Place and the place to go for singles, plus you have a better chance of snagging something rare. Most of WCP's rare stuff goes to their regular customers and never ends up on the shelves. I enjoy Schlafly but prefer the Taproom for the German style potato salad and the cask barleywine, although I like the brunch at Bottleworks.

Scratch and White Rooster are well worth the trek. Even if you don't have a ton of time to spend at either place (although it's easy to spend nearly a full day between the two), both have a bunch of bottles available right now.

I don't go to many restaurants that aren't breweries. I want to go to the Shaved Duck, which I hear has a good beer list. Pi is great for pizza and has a decent beer list. Pappy's has no beer, but you can bring it next door to Center Ice Brewing, which has decent beer (but for me the highlight is hockey theme).

Any new breweries I absolutely must visit? I've been before and done Side Project and Perennial before and plan to return to those though the others not so much. I'll be in town March 3rd.

There are a ton of good breweries already listed in this thread that it sounds like you've yet to visit. If you go to SP then I'd also suggest heavy riff, 2nd shift, modern and schlafly bottleworks due to their close proximity

Whenever people say they are in town "just for Perennial and Side Project" it makes me sad that they are missing out on all of the other great beer.

Well the big ones bring me to a spot and I typically visit others. I was hoping there would be one or two must-visit out of those. I was not impressed by Schlafly last time, fairly standard stuff. I did get to visit 4 hands last time and they were OK, but I'm looking for the ones that are similarly world class to make them stand out above others in the area. Of course I would go through those to see their beers list and all that but it also helps to have local recommendations for the truly epic places.

And since I wasn't clear earlier, I am most interested in farmhouse ales, sours, hazy IPAs, and occasionally really excellent English or German style beers when the others aren't available. It looks like White Rooster and Scratch are good additions to my other main ones for the farmhouse ales and sours.

If you want really excellent German and English style, The Civil Life would be a great choice for hazy IPAs Narrow Gauge/Cuginos.

I might add UCBC for German as well. Its definitely their biggest strength in my opinion

Since it sounds like you are willing to travel a bit, I'd highly recommend Main and Mill in Festus
