    1.) Heineken is delicious.

2.) In the contemporary beer world, "adjunct" now means flavoring additives and you should only correct people on the oldy-time "proper" definition to be funny.

3.) @TongoRad should get mostly quads in the next NBS BIF.

4.) With the federal minimum wage for employees making at least $30 in tips each month set at only $2.13, tips are no longer a reward for a job well done; they're part of the social contract. If you can afford it, you should tip well.

5.) If this is really your personal policy, you should make it your business to ask the people serving you at breweries if they receive a living wage and health benefits or if they live off their tips.

American-made "Belgian-style" Trippels, Dubbels, Quads, are often very poor imitations of the real thing. They are just generic ester bombs without unique character.

I have and to a person they have been dodgy knowing it will affect the tips they receive for nothing. It's really asking someone what they make and few are comfortable answering . I've messaged breweries themselves to no response. This tells me it's not server wages and asking for tips has no need. They do it anyways.

Never said that I don't tip. Just said that I tip judiciously. Different levels of service get different levels of tipping. Nobody deserves 20% just because they show up.

Recent case in point. Was out with the wifey at "our" pub and got a waitress that is pretty new there. New, but not brand new and we've had her wait on us before. Never a stellar performer, but adequate. She started off OK, as per usual, but then completely fell off the face of the earth. To the extent that we had to go to the bar to get our drinks for multiple rounds and resulted in the bartender saying, "If you need anything else, just ask." He even bought us a round. She still got a 10% tip. However, the tip that she didn't get went to our bartender. He's aces. Always has been. FWIW, it wasn't very busy.

Nah, I like a little buzz but I don't like getting drunk. If I had a magic liver that could make me "never legally drunk again no matter how much beer you drink" I'd sign up in a heartbeat.

She probably gave lousy service because the rest of the wait staff said you were a notoriously cheap tipper.

And that's why the bartender bought us a round? Try again.

    One more:

Way too many $4 beers that aren't worth $1.50.

I find people's definitions of "drunk" tend to vary widely. For some people saying "drunk" means having a healthy buzz. I'm one of those people. For others it means that you're staggering and puking on yourself. I never mean that when I say, "I'd like to get drunk tonight".

I love horses. And I love blankets. But I feel the same way about describing beer smelling or tasting like horse blankets.

The people who get huffy about "homogenization" or whatever when brewers in Germany / Belgium / the UK make US-style IPA are often the same people who complain that their local brewery in Colorado or wherever doesn't brew an authentic helles / hefe / tripel / bitter, and if they are then they need to have a word with themselves.

    Here's another:

People need to stop bitching about/putting down NEIPAs and NEIPA drinkers. People who have been into all kinds of beer for decades still like NEIPAs. Some NEIPAs are really good (gasp!) and that's 90% of why they're popular.

Sam Adams makes some of the best lagers you can find anywhere on store shelves. Nobel Pils in my variety lager 12 pack I just bought? Still one of my favorite all time pilsners.
