I don't agree. How is this a problem?
Skiing, Snowboarding, and hiking are "dominated" by white people. It's not because these activities are racist, it's because of history, tradition, and culture. You'd have a hard time convincing me that a white person hiking is a closet racist, they do that because they enjoy it. Likewise, there is nothing about hiking (or craft beer) that excludes certain ethnicities. You are focused on the outcomes, but aren't considering that there are lots of factors that go into why people do the things they do.

Ha, I didn't take yawnsville to mean something like that, which I agree is a giant waste of time. And, indeed, as with most "debates" on message boards, there's not a great history of constructive, thoughtful, give-and-take discussions on this topic.

I'm just saying that it's possible and that it would be okay for us to attempt to do that. Failure imminent though it may be:wink:

Problem is I need some friends to help drink them! (non-online BA friends that send me too much beer)

Guinness Draught is the best beer in it's style (Irish Dry Stout).
Another Guinness one: Guinness is the best beer to be served with nitrogen, whether it's cans or on tap.

As someone who is about to head back to Valpo for an extended weekend: who are you referring to here?

It is ridiculous when beer traders get super upset that I won't trade a hard-to-get beer for something I could pick up from Total Wine in ten minutes. To take a recent example, maybe a six pack of Stone Enjoy By is even better than the Julius I traded for, but I'd rather go and buy a pack myself than trade for it. (Also, if the rare beers are such over-hyped and over-rated nonsense, why do you want to trade for it?)

On the other hand, marketing a WC IPA as a "Clear IPA" triggers the living hell out of me.

Beer is made from grains. Wine is made from fruit.
    Mead is made from honey.

I guess it's those Cook County taxes that propel the good distro.:wink:

I know; I MAKE mead, wine, and beer. It's legally considered wine in the United States.
In the UK, it's considered "made-wine" and taxed as wine.
In Belgium, it's called "mead wine"

Not only that, but commercially produced meads can contain any manner of fruit or spices, but they cannot contain any grains. Commercial mead producers hold a WINE license.

Conversely, beer can contain honey and fruit, but no more than 49% of the fermentable sugars can come from these "agricultural products".

I'm not sure why you even posted this. Are you assuming I lack a basic understanding of what beer, mead, and wine are?

The only thing US "craft" will be recognized long-term as having contributed to world brewing is the American (read: very hoppy) IPA.

Most people don’t have a clue as to what mead is.

The mead makers (4) that I know have been trying to get some reclassification of mead as its own beverage.

I hear this cliche all the time. “Bitterness will cut through the fat”. Why would you want the bitterness to cut through what makes food taste good?

To add to this-Most beer doesn’t pair well with most food. I respect you Garret Oliver but the majority of the time, a simple pils, is sufficient.

If we're talking Peroni, hard pass. If we're talking stuff from Birrificio Indipendente Elav, I'm all for it. I was a big fan of their Double IPA and Dark Metal, their Imperial Stout.
