I grabbed a couple bottles near GR yesterday. I'm guessing your timing is good to find a bottle or two. Short's website still shows it available and they have been doing a good job keeping the bottle list up to date. Boyne City is close enough, you need to hit the pub anyways! If they don't have Batch 8000 grab a bourbon ben's asthma and I'll swap with you for an 8000.

Thanks for the info. I've found once it hits Grand Rapids, it's usually in metro Detroit in another two or three days. Time to go hunting!

Looks like the price point at the pub is $16. What price is everyone out there seeing?

“Powerful, intense, and boozy, Batch 8000 is the perfect sipper to share.”

While I’m a bit nervous about buying in to such a radical beer I must confess that this last sentence in the description from Shorts is a bit sexy and definitely tempting.....hmmmmmm...ok, I’ve gotta give this a burn (Batch 5000 was proof enough to me that Shorts can pull off agressive styles)

Just glanced at the release schedule and noticed some additions to the seasonal schedule (unless they were there before and I just missed it?). Slurm Lord is on the schedule as a September-November seasonal, and Superfluid returns as a December season (and I'm guessing carrying over to the first month or two of 2019). Woo Hoo!

Anybody try the Batch 8000 yet? Curious of how similar it is to the 5000. Can't wait to pick up a bottle if I see it.

Good eye! I think when they initially released the 2018 list, the only open seasonal slot was Oct-Dec, so they may have divided it into two releases and just added it recently.

I dont know if you are in the Metro Detroit area, but it arrived at most stores yesterday and today.

Also, sounds like there is more to go around than the Batch 5000 bombers from 2016. In general, Short's bomber quantity/availability was way up last year from 2016.

Nope, thanks though. I'm actually about an hour from Bellaire, closer to Traverse City. Distro seems to be a bit weird here (I've only been here a half year or so). Some releases seem to land a day or two before anywhere else and other times it will be 2 weeks after. Might just be when some stores are putting stuff out. Either way at least stuff seems to hang around a while...

Funny, I was looking at the release schedule and was thinking this. Slurm Lord and Superfluid as seasonals, Anni Ale coming back, almost twice as many variety packs, Hoppy Holidays, and while I don't have hard numbers the retailers I've heard from are getting bigger quantities of 8000 than 5000. These should-be limited and expensive to brew beers are all available in plentiful quantities.

Why, it's almost as if the 2016 expansion was a good thing.

Dude. Go to the pub. Get a White Pepper sandwich, some Loop De Loop, and post a picture for me so I can live vicariously. Then pick up a bottle of 8000 and some Private Stache.

Batch 8000 was okay. Despite liking big hot BA stouts, I could not take the ABV.

The fruit came through nicely. I think a 8-11% version of this would be amazing.

Does the burn hit right upfront or is it hit going down? Does the raspberry come through?

I got hit with the ABV immediately. The raspberry comes through well.

White Pepper is damn good, but Sketches of Winkle is what you get when you're at the pub!

This! Lots of abv up front but a very nice slightly tart raspberry finish. Also smells fantastic.

Gotta go with the White Pepper. A White Pepper and pint from the cask is how I always start my Shanty trips.

The wife and I use to always split a Sketches and either a White Pepper or whatever the special was, but we've come to realize what we really want is two Sketches .
