The infection issue has spread to this thread.

Anyway, while this whole situation is a bummer, I have really enjoyed dozens of fantastic beers from Jackie O's over the past few years and will continue to do so. I'm sure they'll straighten things out and we'll be back to our regularly scheduled broadcast of beer nerds whining on a beer site about... BEER.

I had to look up FTFY online, if you post this in a beer discussion thread you should just exit. I mean just get out.

Excited to try polycephaly 3. I havent tried it yet. I also cannot wait for the next Jackie O's uptown bottle release. How about everyone else? I hope I didn't go too far off topic.

I haven’t looked at this thread in a while. Nice to see the fighting extends beyond ‘New to Ohio’.

I only had one infected bottle; I generally drink my stuff too fast for that shit to set in. Need to re supply soon.

It's absolutely delicious. Hoping to get down there while it's still around.

Is Jackie O's saying that 1 out of every 3 samples from an infected barrel comes back as a clean result? What gives with the test? That is an awfully bad test if you can't trust the results 1/3 of the time. @beace

Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you would like me to explain this in more detail. How you have interpreted the information is not correct. I may be to blame for how this was written. I will not explain our barrel testing process at length on this forum.

I don't read that passage that way at all. It seems to me those numbers are merely an example of the kind of output the lab gives in terms of a given barrel's being clean or infected not being an ambiguous output, thus 33/66 likelihood for example rather than anything close to 50-50.

Unrelated to current infection talk, but I just found a bunch of Jackie O stuff in Colorado. Why do they get it, and Chicago doesn’t?

I'm not a huge low-abv pale ale guy, but this was pretty good during the anny.

Ironically, my friend opened a Noble Sorrel last Friday, gushed everywhere, totally infected.

I believe I had 100% Lizard at the Anniversary Party and it was really good.

On the BA problems, I'm really upset now after buying a ton of bottles at the Anniversary Party. I find it really surprising that they continued to sell them, when they were likely figuring out all of the details on the other recall and surprise surprise here we are with more on the list.

I make the trek to Athens around twice a year, and I likely won't be able to go exchange these before the time runs out. I'll drink them and hope I strike gold. Either way, I'm voting with my wallet until this gets fixed, otherwise it's going to be the same story over and over again.

I love how they went all in brewing with lupulin powder, while simultaneously there were people on here praising the sanctity of Jackie O's and how they would never make a turbid, opaque, turkey-stock of a hoppy brew that was "dank-" or "juicy-" forward.

Now that they have, will you switch sides? Are they suddenly the enemy aligned with Hoof, Masthead, et al? What is the world coming to?!

Anyway, I thought it was pretty tasty too. I will probably enjoy it even more on a day that I don't have 100 other beers to sift through.

I wasn’t a part of the debate, but based on my sampling, I’d say it’s too early to call this Jackie O’s getting into the New England IPA game. Other than their use of the descriptor “juicy” in that post, I didn’t find that this had much in common with those beers. I found it to be fairly dry with a nice amount of bitterness, both of which seem to be anathema to big NEIPA fans.

Hmm...most NE IPAs I've had are quite dry in the finish. Often, very dry. Chalky even, albeit the middle can be quite pillowy from the best producers. Also, I got all kinds of dankness and juiciness out of it. And when I had it, it was 100% opaque. A few of the current Untappd photos seem to show that also. Jackie O's description doesn't determine what sub-style it seems to fit in for me, aesthetically.

And you call me a troll, you're just out trolling for another meltdown it seems.

This is hardly jumping on the NEIPA wagon, although that marketing blurb is indeed super obnoxious. But using lupulin powder doesn't mean it's a NEIPA. Their Pollen used it and it was bitter as fuck, same goes for Pack Mentality.

Even still, do haze bros even drink pale ales like this anyway? At least one post above by a stereotypical haze bro seems to suggest they don't. It's just a ******ed marketing grab. The Haus malts thing is further evidence, I bet they got free malt to make this beer.

Also it's just a pub brewer making some...stuff...

Reach out to the brewery, they will at least give you a gift card (no expiration) for the bottles purchased - no trade-in required.

They did one a couple years ago, even if it wasn’t ‘official’. Forget the name.

Personally I don't give a shit if it’s hazy, turbid, whatever; my problem with a lot of those beers is they lack flavor.
