Biggest: Dogs and babies/toddlers in breweries. WTF. Y'all need to drink at home. If I need to bark or cry, I do that in the privacy of my own beer (at home).
On beer specifically: whale-chasers and people who wait in line all day for special releases that, in the end, are still just beer.

Just like bringing your baby into a restaurant. Some people just don't think about anyone else but themselves when they do it. Because a lot of people are too self-involved to realize it, breweries need to have policies something like this: "If your dog or baby is well-behaved, they're welcome. If not, keep them (the fuck) at home."

    Exactly.

I have 2 kids and I won't take them to a brewery with me. Exception being the New Glarus Brewery when it's nice out and we can sit outside. If I'm going to a brewery I'm probably doing it to get away from my kids.

I have a dog that I love, and she rides in the car with me most places. I will not take her to a brewery because I don't think she, or any dog for that matter belong there.

I’m guessing that the people complaining about kids at breweries don’t have kids?

Here it is: I think waiting in line for beer is completely ridiculous.

    Dislikes:
    - People who think 6% abv is a lot
    - People who think two hearted ale is good
    - People who say "X brewery is on a whole notha level than Y brewery" when they are both top tier. No, Tree House is not 1000 times better than Trillium. Essentially you are saying Y brewery sucks and/or X brewery is like nothing you've ever tasted.
-People who drink slower than me at shares and keep me from opening the next new beer
-People who think I'm probably an alcoholic due to my last comment

Waiting in long lines for anything other than an amusement park is pretty stupid, IMO.

Agreed. I'm not anti-dog or anti-kid, I'd just rather not have to "adult" while enjoying some tasty beverages.

Though some people are in fact like that, a lot aren't...I'm personally on a restaurant/brewery hiatus because my almost 2 year old is in a very difficult to handle stage and it's impossible to keep her reasonable a lot of the time...but my older kids are great and are far less obnoxious than many of the drunk people at many breweries I've been at.

But you're wanting to have breweries implement policies to cater to people who don't like kids, even though most establishments welcome them and the extra money for overpriced kids meals that come with them not to mention the money they otherwise wouldn't have from me? Who's being self centered again?

Hey I get it, really terrible kids running around everywhere while parents ignore them do suck, but it shouldn't ruin it for the rest of us.

Oh and common decency is for everywhere but the internet, right?

Nobody said anything about not liking kids. Simply expecting people to have a certain decorum while in public. That shouldn't be too much to ask.

Obviously you don't get it. Your kids are welcome to run your life and cause a scene at home, but not at the expense of everyone else in a public place.

Nope. It's for the internet, too.

I feel like I’m on the park slope parents yahoo group and someone just started a thread saying they’re not going to vaccinate their kid.

Let’s not get hot and bothered. You guys are saying the same thing. As long as the place is child appropriate and your kid is behaving it’s fine. Otherwise it’s not. Common sense.

Sure. Historically hiking for pleasure came from European (white) countries. These traditions are still part of the culture there and here. In addition, most of the African Americans that live in this country live in areas that are NOT close to ski areas (the south or large east-coast cities). Lastly, cultural. My parents and their parents spent a lot of time visiting national parks, hiking, and exploring the great outdoors. This culture is being passed on to my kids. Anyone can go hiking and skiing, whitewater rafting, or drink craft beer; but there are historical, traditional, cultural reasons why certain groups are more attracted to the idea.

To me it's more about the parents then the kids. If you don't want to parent while out in public and having a few beverages, and think it's okay to let your kids run around like crazy people un-tethered, I hope you get run over by a truck.

Okay maybe that was a little harsh. As I said above, I don't bring my kids along because I'm there for adult time. I have no problem with other people's kids if they're well-behaved and not crazy people.
