I suppose I could but it's just another connection that could leak.

I'm sorry you aren't excited, but you should realize that there are no problems with your set up.
    But
    Wait. What? WHAT?

Fenton reaction would appear to be the least your worries, no?
I don't advocate making any old random claim. I too am sorry. Ordinarily it's just beer talk and not a big deal but we see this kind of authoritative speak too frequently and I do call out this BA when needed.

You are 50% of the problem here. The post is an equipment post where we can all enjoy what's coming in the mail for us or items we are are excited to use. It has turned into a pissing contest and a post focused around my stupid spunding valve which was not my intent. It would be great if it could just be dropped and people would post new equipment or even new ingredients like was originally intended. Thanks.

Ok, new ingredient for me is. Some hickory that I toasted in the wood stove yesterday. Gonna use it with the new stout

I disagree. I've been on this forum for over 13 years, I've seen the type. There is an agenda here.
You can't debate a fact, it's what makes it a fact. It's not a matter of opinion.
Some guy with an agenda is telling BA homebrewers that they are getting lead in their beer. And it's bullshit.Frustrating but bullshit. And it does drive traffic to a website.

You know, I'll tell you this much. That plastic gas connection is leaching phthalates into your beer. Yeah. It's true. See?
    Cheers.
Edit, also succeeded in getting you down on your equipment, which is not my fault and just bad karma all around.

Nice where was the hickory from?

I cut and toast my own wood. I have a wood lot on the farm so, white oak. Cherry, Apple and now hickory wood I have cut and used in beer. Ash is next.

Picked up a torpedo 2.5G keg, a 3 way distro for co2, a cereal killer grain mill, countertop RO, domed lid + pressure relief valve for my ss brewbucket to do pressurized closed transfers.

looking forward to buying 50lb bags of base malt and not having to run to the store for water when i want to brew.

No plans for new equipment this year but I did have to get a new bottle capper last week. Went with a Super Agata bench capper from the LHBS. My workouts must really be paying off as the plastic on my original Red Baron wing capper broke into a bunch of pieces on the very first bottle! Thought it would make it to 100 batches but I guess 70 is still pretty good.

Picked up a fermonster fermenter recently that I am outfitting to do forced CO2 transfers. I'm beginning to think that I have been experiencing some gnarly off flavors from cold side O2 pickup, at least that is what I have settled on as the culprit for a couple of dud hoppy beers as of late.

Essentially I will have a SS barb connected to the flare connection on my gas line, a bung with two holes, one for the hose barb CO2 to connect and one for a racking cane. Hope she works!

Re-quoting here as I just did mash number two using my new tun. In over an hour this time, I lost 1.2 degrees. did a slight preheat while cleaning and went a little higher on strike temp.

Great stuff. Definitely more purge cycles than I have ever thought for reducing O2 in serving keg. More CO2 than I care to use for a single batch of beer I think (I don't have the equipment to capture fermentation CO2 yet).

For dry hopping in the serving keg, I presume the only viable method is numerous purge cycles. The sanitizer purge method wouldn't work because you would have to crack the lid and throw in the hop bag after, defeating the purpose...

Now, get ready.... Would it be completely insane to put the hops in with the sanitizer, then purge the keg? rack the beer onto starsan / idophor soaked hops ? Just thinking out loud here
