Is the end product "beer?" That's highly debatable given the methods used to achieve 65% ABV, and I'm sure many will say it's "cheating," but here's a repost with more information from the brewery.

World's Strongest Beer Launched at Whopping 65%

A brewery based in Scotland has just produced the world’s strongest beer at a whopping 65%. Brewmeister Brewery began production earlier this year with the a local Pale Ale but decided to become more adventurous by releasing the Brewmeister Armageddon. The 65% beer will be launched at the Inverness Beer Festival on 3rd November where it will sell for £5 a nip.

Production Director John MacKenzie who runs the brewery said the beer has a 'viscous quality to it, due to the special freeze fermentation method we use to produce such a high alcoholic beer'. The beer, which is hoppy and slightly sweet in flavour is recommended to be served in brandy size measures due to the abnormally high ABV, which John says 'delivers a punch'. Lewis Shand, founder and fellow director said "The phrase 'delivers a punch' doesn't quite cut it. 'Delivers a supersonic charged explosion and conveys the taster to drunkville' is probably more appropriate....it really is a powerful beer!"

The brewery which is set upon the hills of the Kincardine Estate are also set to release their stout named 'Black ****' in the near future. Details of the beers can be found on the Brewmeister facebook page.

330ml : 65% (bottle in pic is 500ml for display purposes)

The world's strongest beer at 65%. Ingredients include crystal malt, wheat, flaked oats and of course 100% Scottish spring water. We then freeze ferment the beer to bring up the ABV. Consume this like a fine whisky.

Despite being 65%, the beer has a lot of flavour - malty, hoppy, slightly sweet and lots of yeast still in the beer. Be careful though, smelling it is probably enough to put you over the limit!

A new contender for the worlds most obnoxious brewery crown currently held by Brewdog?

You just know this is going to go on until someone conjures a 99% ABV "beer"

At what point does beer become hopped whiskey?

Even if you go blind at least you can still taste the hops!

Super curious and just went to buy one. It coincidentally ends up costing $65(ok $64.40 i rounded up). I'll have to pass. I can get a nice bottle of scotch for that much.

Just for kicks I went to order one. Once you add shipping to the US, you are looking at $79.44 for a single 330ml bottle...NO THANKS!

Did they say how long it takes to brew? As far as the price goes the retail for Sam Adams Utopia is about double ,so this seems like a bargain. I would never buy any of these so called "Beers" though they are best levee for being tried at festivals. The only beer I have enjoyed that was 20% or over was DFH 120 min at least at that point their is still carbonation and the mouthfeel still resembles beer

Beer becomes whiskey when it is distilled.

    No.

It would be phenomenally expensive to break the azeotrope of 95.6% ethanol / 4.4% water in a safe manner. Almost all the industrial / lab grade stuff uses benzene or cyclohexane to break the azeotrope, and those are not good for you even in minuscule amounts. Not immediately fatal, of course.

I'd rather drink a good bottled in bond straight bourbon.

I think I will try and import some of the Black **** Stout and distribute it to the Cathouses outside of Carson City and Reno. I bet the working girls would get a kick out of getting their patrons to buy them a black **** before business.

So the price on this has apparently been raised to £60.00. With shipping that's $110 usd. Granted, I paid almost that much /oz for Utopias, but I just can't imagine this one tasting very good. Has anyone tried it yet? Would like to know if I'm correct in thinking the only reason to drink it would be for the novelty.
