I've seen a bunch of top knots, bushy beards and plastic frame glasses in the past two days, including a few breweries. Either they're hipsters or hipster wannabes; I just can't tell anymore.

They're ten or maybe twenty times the normal density at Austin Street.

They sound more like post-card brewers or brewer wannabes.

Hmmm, starting to sound to me like it's a New England type of thing. I guess they like you guys or are part of the New England scene.

Been trying to read through it all before replying but couldn't resist with this one. Is this true? Chime in, everyone who had all 3. I've had Stone Loral and loved it, but hate exalted with Loral and Citra. Also hate Hop Bullet but love it mixed with whiskey in a boilermaker. Never had Pliney but definitely on my list to try. Is it really like Hop Bullet and,Loral Stone? If so it doesn't belong on top 250 just like most Top 250's.

    Now comes the fun:

I hate Prairie Bomb and Prairie Paradise both suck balls! However I love Pirate Bomb and believe it's one of the best beers I ever had.

I tip at breweries but do believe that it shouldn't be me paying their wages. I tip for growlers and never tip less than 20% however I never tip for take out or tip for bottles. And truly I wouldn't tip at all but for a waitress getting paid $2.65 and depending on tips I tip just for that but believe establishments should pay the living wage not the customer.

I love all beers but have to say the best are barrel aged stouts and west coast IPAs

Founders and Bells are my 2 favorite breweries

I feel I can't Truly judge NE IPAs because Trillium, Treehouse, Melvyn, and Alchemist don't distribute to Michigan so fuck'em just for that. If they're so great let the whole world taste to decide on it so distribute nationwide. Mickeller figured it out.

Fuck M-43, from My understanding they're nowhere as good as Treehouse, Trillium, Alchemist, or Melvyn

Fuck Toppling Goliath for charging $250 to try Kentucky Brunch Stout. No 12oz beer is worth that amount. At least SA Utopia is 28% abv and 24oz.

All SA beers taste the same all have a Boston Lager flavor

Even more Jesus on every page. Usually appreciate your posts but fuckin A you've out stayed your welcome in this forum.

Stop calling people trolls who differ in opinion, troll is now used as a poor supported argument for the claim

No more new breweries, we have enough

Aging can improve beers, examples are imperial stouts, Blue Chimmay, barleywines, sours, and anything too hot that needs to be toned down.

Chicago beer drinkers are biggest snobs, love Chicago beer and Chicago but people there tend to be smuggish

I got more just can't think it all right now. But have to say 15 pages in has been a fun read.

    Cheers!

@ cavedave " your willing to put up with the awfulness of line culture to get beer" I respect your post and your willingness to put up with this to get beer. However IMHO if there is isn't a bigger black eye in beer culture today than line culture I dont know what is. I live close to Monkish and see the BS that surrounds every can release, just go read the Monkish thread. Disclaimer, I drink a lot of Monkish goodness, I just go fill growlers and avoid the lot lizards that circle Monkish hours in advance everyday waiting for that IG post so that they too can stand in line for 3 hours for 2 four packs of beer. To each his own I guess.

    Cheers,

Ok, I've been wondering for a while as an OC beer fan: why the hell, if you aren't trading, wouldn't you just grab growlers of the IPAs? Like, am I missing something here?

Yes you are missing the entire point of my post. I dont do can releases,I don't trade, I don't sell, I buy my Monkish to drink, crazy isn't it ?, therefore I stop in Monkish long after the lot lizards have gone to fill growlers quite often of the same beer they released a few days earlier in cans.

Yes, having to put up with world class bottles shares with friends on Saturday mornings while eating fresh made breakfast sandwiches and relaxing for a few hours before waiting in line with friends for ten minutes or so is rough work, but someone has to do it. (I'm guessing you didn't actually read my post?)

I don't go to releases except EQ, and I realize that most/all other releases are nothing like it.

    - Using the term "hazies" should be banned
-People who use the term "malt bomb" pejoratively for beers that are supposed to be malty should be banned
-Anyone who rates Westy 12 below 2 because it is a "malt bomb" should be double-banned
-Bottle shops should be forced to put all their releases on the shelf without playing hide-and-seek games with their beer or be banned
-Pubs/breweries that blast loud metal/screamo/whatever should be combined with the pubs that let screaming children run around so that I can avoid them.
-Hazy IPA releases should take their lines and chairs and pedantry to the pubs mentioned above so that I don't have to witness them
-I don't mind hipsters as long as they're quiet

Actually, you seem to have missed the question I was asking. I’m asking “Why wouldn’t everyone do what you (and I) do and skip the lines, grabbing the easy to get growler fills.” But thanks for the condescending response brother.

I didn't mean to sound condescending at all, if stating that I dont sell trade or stand in line is condescending then I'm sorry you took it that way, glad you are on the same thought process, which is we drink our beers. All good man.

    This, times infinity.

If they're too quiet they can appear suddenly and startle you quite badly. Besides, they emit a sort of pale, dry-skinned creepiness which is unhealthful to be near.

    Ban them, too.

    On tipping:

If you sit at the bar and receive even approximately decent service, tip at least 20%.

If you're getting growlers filled, tip the greater of 10% or $1.00 per growler.

If you're getting cans, fuck tipping, and fuck those dickish iPads which force you to press the 'No Tip' icon before you can sign and leave.

I think the difference is in where they live. If it's not Williamsburg or equivalent, then you got a wannabe on your hands .
