Depends if they're hot or not.

Of course... and I can really appreciate that too. I love Old Foghorn more for its significance as a meeting of two worlds than drinking it (and that’s not a knock against it). I can still be old-fashioned in thinking it’s barley wine... cause it is. I’m not gonna change my use of the original term because someone figured out a modification to get around the law. Makes about as much sense as saying dandelionwine.

People should say: “That sedan from Toyota is garbage.”

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with using crystal malt.

Not saying you should (I agree with you, it should be "barley wine") just explaining where it came from, and unlike many similar misused/misspelled terms, at least there's an interesting origin story.

Gotta say, though, that "New Castle" bothers me more:grin: (and I've never even drank the stuff).

Waiting in line for hours, and paying a small fortune for a beer, is a waste of time and money.

Using a stuffed squirrel as a beer bottle was a stupid gimmick.

Stupid, but funny. Actually, while I never got the squirrel beer, I thought that Tactical Nuclear Penguin was decent. Well, at least with 5 years on it!

Plus it had the intended effects. People noticed and the name of the Brewery got mentioned a lot.

Seems like we could cut them a bit of slack since its home town, Newcastle-on-Tyne has been known as Newcastle since the Roman Conquest. :sunglasses:

Not only was the bottle inside the stuffed squirel, the stuffed squirrel was road kill. :sunglasses:

I don’t care if it’s bourbon or whiskey. If someone wants to use Harvest as justification that you can call a bourbon barrel aged beer an English style barley wine, that’s fine... but I don’t. To me, that’s an English barley wine because it’s made there... and an American shoudn’t call their bourbon beer English ‘cause it’s not in the English style. I don’t expect anyone to agree with me.

Wait, what’s New Castle? I honestly never saw that (not that I know of or remember). Do people type it that way? By the way, I’m sorry to tell you, but if you never had Newcastle, you’re clearly not a beer expert.

No J. W. Lees beer is aged in whiskey barrels. One is aged in Scotch whisky barrels.

    There is a difference.
