You thought the other trade was dead and agreed to another one. Seems as you should have made good on the deal you made and let the "dead" trade stay dead. Easy enough to say you thought he wasn't interested due to the lack of response and have since closed. In fact, I'd say that would be the right thing to do. But that's just me.

Not so much a pet peeve but a missed opportunity to learn. Like everyone I'm sure, I've replied to ISOs and got nothing, no reply, nothing. Tell me if my offer was low or way off. Was I just too late and you got what you needed. A better offer maybe. Just letting the other person know can only be a positive for the trading community
    Cheers

Totally agree with you. This is another big one for me. I get back to everybody no matter if I want to trade with them or not. I think it’s common courtesy and only takes a minute or two. If I see someone reads a message and doesn’t reply back with anything, for me as petty as it may seem, that’s a mark against them. I’d rather have someone tell me to eff off than get no reply at all.

Got to love when people know exactly what they are doing by offering beers everyone can get with relative ease and are asking for KBBS, SR-71, Derivation, Handjee etc. ... true asshole posts all the way.

At best, those threads are clogging up the ISO:FT forum. At worst, they are trying to screw some novice out of a truly diffuclt beer for some beer that they had quite an easy time getting.

Yeah, I get the whole 'if you're happy, i'm happy' thing, but most of the time these posts are from assholes who are trying to screw over another person. I guess I'm mostly annoyed at these threads clogging up the forum.

This is a half joke, so don't yell at me, but can CBS trades be a pet peeve?
Every fourth post is FT: CBS, we get it. It's a cool beer with name recognition but it was not hard to acquire in most states (easy in some).
No one that has a FO or '17 Prop wants your CBS.

Check the Completed Trades posting for CBS. Some legit highway robbery on some of the completed trades.

My pet peave since I have not posted one really:

Blatant highway robbery. Just because someone is offering something doesn't mean you should accept it point blank. People should be willing to say "Hey - that's too generous. How about this instead: [insert more fair trade here]."

I "get" wanting to try a beer - and if given the opportunity wanting to jump on this. - But I feel like common decency should trump this.

The people on here that post the same list every single day. We get it, you're still looking for Prop '14 and you still have nothing good to trade.

I agree with OP. The ghosting is such a huge time waster and disrespectful. I recently had a situation where:

    1) Someone reached out to me with an offer
    2) I said looks good
    3) They read message same day, didn't respond
    4) I message next day, they read same day and didn't respond
    5) I wait 3-4 days, message, they read same day and no response

I know this isn't a BBT, but I would welcome being able to call these people out, be it through the Forums or a rating system for engagement.

That is assuming that they are real. If they are not, add artificial trade value inflation to the list of pet peeves.

I have a pet Peeve. When you send a box packed with a bunch of beers that you ran around all over the state acquiring and the person who receives them can't even be bothered to answer your text message inquiring if they received the package even after 4+ days. In another case a buddy of mine spent over $120 on beer and shipping costs to bomb someone's porch and they didn't even acknowledge the fact that anything had come.

It's BS and people who can't take the time to communicate in a reasonable time frame should NOT trade at all. Senders are spending hours gathering beer and carefully collecting and packaging and mailing beers and DESERVE at least a small token of acknowledgement that takes a mere 1 minute to accomplish. Unless there is some extraordinary circumstance this in inexcusable.

Lack of communication is the worst. If someone reads my message and doesn't respond within 24 hours they go straight to my ignore list. My list is getting VERY long.

I'll revive this thread...here's something that just happened to me. OP quoting secondary for his FT s and quoting his ISO at retail cost. Wanted me to provide retail value that equaled his self valued "secondary" cost.

Guy posts an ISO:FT, I want his FT and I have some of his ISO. We talk a bit and we get to the point where I am offering 8 bottles from a brewery he was ISO for a small portion of his FT list. He quotes the secondary value of the 3 bottles of his and says the cost of my bottles don't equal that. I can't quote secondary value on my 8 because there are no visible sales. He says he's not interested in the trade. Huge pet peeve. Fast lane to the do not trade list.

I had a similar experience recently when searching for a bottle of Atrial. We'd almost closed, though I wasn't happy about the ratios, at 3:1 (BCBCS being one of the bottles, with two other barrel aged stouts...). My potential trading partner had even stated once that he wasn't trying to screw me over - big red flag, by the way - but said that he "thought my bottles were readily available".

We got to the point in the conversation when we were discussing expanding (for some vintage Darkness bottles) - and he went silent. No further messages, probably over a month now. And honestly? I'm fine with that. Straight to my "do not trade" list as well.

Ah, the old my bottles at secondary and yours at retail ploy. Huge peeve of mine as well. Sad to hear of course and am sure many have dealt with it.

Had a trade nearly worked out. Both sides had brewery only releases of similar rarity and quality. 3 bottles of one was worth the same as 4 cans of the other. The guy wanted me to add because I lived closer to my brewery than how far he lived from the brewery where he purchased. Are you kidding?

This is unreal behavior and I cannot believe that someone actually thought that this was a legitimate request. We need an "Adventures in Trade Negotiations" thread to collect all of these amazing stories.

Biggest pet peeve is seeing people in this thread who’ve ghosted on me, talk about bad trade etiquette lol
