    February.

All 3 BA Behemoth in March
    Mother of Dreadnaught in May
    Chevelier off and on

So Mother of Dreadnaught + DL variants were the last we've seen I think. Maybe a Bertrand sprinkled in

Also Sicario Piña was another Muscat barrel beer released around the same time as Rue

    So let's see

    2016:

    BA Behemoth
2 barrel aged Warpigs imports (1 non BA)
    BA Alpha Klaus
    BA Moloko vanilla
    BA Moloko
    BA Moloko Wylde Cherry
    BA Moloko Cherry
    BA Alpha Kong

    2017:

    Old Forrester Behemoth
    Woodford Behemoth
    Willett Behemoth
    Mother of Dreadnaught
    Rue D'Floyd
    Sicario Piña
    Red wax Chevelier Bertrand

All of those Molokos were done in one day so a total of 5 separate releases compared to 7 separate releases on 2017 since the Behemoth bottles were divided up.

If you count Behemoth as one release then it was 5 releases. I think we're all just butt hurt over the lack of bourbon and the presence of Muscat

Seems like little to no Barrel Aged beers in the second half of the year.

That makes it look like the trend is away from the smaller BA brewpub local releases to nationally distributed barrel aged beers. To be honest, that's a big bummer because when you are doing these en masse you are probably looking at making what will sell rather than what you are passionate about.

Were any of those BA beers released at anything but Kiosk? Or am I missing what you're saying?

You are correct. They were all pub only including Sicario Piña and Mother of Dreadnaught

I think we are overreacting.. based on absolutely nothing I expect the generic 750s to make a return this year

I think it just looks like all the barrels they have are going towards Dark Lord.

They’re still a pretty small operation, relatively speaking, and 10,000 bottles of BA beer is no small number.

True. Exclude Dark Lord variants for a moment.

If the rumor of 8,000 bottles of Rue D'Floyd are true, then that's probably more barrel aged beer right there than all of the 2016 releases combined.

I don't think that will be the norm.

Between Rue and the three Behemoth variants, that's almost 10,000 bottles alone in 2017.

Consider most of their 750ml barrel aged releases are between 500 to 1000 bottle count and I think they actually made a ton of barrel aged beer in 2017. Except we got labels on bombers instead of generic 750s

I thought these all eventually hit distro:

    Mother of Dreadnaught
    Rue D'Floyd
    Sicario Piña
    Red wax Chevelier Bertrand

I was thinking the same thing. Pretty sure at least MoD and Sicario hit distro.

If they did, it was not wide. We see most all distro bottles, including Behemoth, Cracke the sky, etc. Definitely did not see MoD, but perhaps I am forgetting Sicario.

I live in southern Indiana and we get every distro release. Molten Mirrors and Sicaro Pina released at the same time but only Mirrors was on shelves. I definitely did not get Mother of Dreadnaught, Rue D'Floyd, or Chevelier Bertrand. I cant imagine distro for 25 and 30 dollar bottles

I saw one bottle of Rue at a random foremost in lake county on the counter for like $40. Not sure if that means it was distributed or not because it was the only bottle I ever saw anywhere.

If I understand correctly Todd left Surly because he didn’t have any ownership stake? If Ansari put up all of the money into the brewery then why would Todd expect any ownership as he is an employee.

Sweat equity....plus if you look at all the breweries that have gone ESOP you may start to wonder why you don't have something similar.

I don’t believe Rue ever hit distro. I’m not 100% sure in that, but I believe that to be the case.

Businesses give a portion of the company to their key employees all the time. Frankly, it’s more common than not. And it seems to be becoming more the norm in this industry.

As far as reasons he left, only he and his family know. But it sounded like it was all of the above. If your employer fired your wife? If you think you aren’t being reasonably compensated and don’t have a say in the future of the company? A company you feel you have had significant responsibility in building? how much longer would someone stay if that was how he felt?

If you are and have been the head brewer - responsible in a significant way for the success of a company - and you aren't offered profit sharing, you should leave. That's insulting and outside the norm.

Even in non-beer companies this should be happening for key employees whom are directly responsible. Profit sharing is a good thing, and compensates in ways that direct earnings from wages do not.

If you think this is unfair, I'm just not sure that I can understand why.
