I'll say that there are certain ways to assess it that are more correct than others. However, there is no correct way to enjoy it.

"more correct" gets closer to acceptable for me. I've written about and assessed many beers for years. But I often tasted red wines before whites because it made sense at the time. To some , that is incorrect. I always thought tasting was about focus a bit more than about procedure.

I think that it's about knowing what aspects need addressed and what you're supposed to be identifying and then filling in the blanks from there. That way you have some structure, but you still have the freedom to be an individual while doing it.

I'd be down with that if everyone put an accurate description of their beer on their labels.

SNPA is a solid beer, nothing more.

This probably pissed off 80% of my living relatives.

It definitely pissed off 100% of my non-living relatives.

    Bacon enhances life....

True, but it also set the bar for many a great Pale Ale (aka: pale ale). That's good enough for me to give it 2 thumbs up!

    I won't deny it's historical significance, but personally I don't really care.

Guy (or gal) joins BA recently. She (or he) posts a topic two days later. Seven days after that there are 27 pages of dumb (or smart) comments, at least half of them from @EvenMoreJesus. This is some sort of record, right?

I don't think BA should allow any brew, from any brewery.. to count towards their overall rating until at least 10 ratings are in per beer.

Tart beers are OK, but sour beers suck. So do bitter beers.

I'm not sure if this is what @Sweatshirt meant during this post, but what about liquor and wine?

Some of these beers are just as strong as wine (some are obviously aged in wine and whiskey barrels), do you need to drink 8 - 10 oz. of these to assess them?

I've never been to a wine or whiskey tasting, but I assume they don't drink > 8 oz. of either when assessing them. I believe a few of you mentioned changing your mind about a barrel-aged beer after having 8 oz. of it, I personally think the same would happen to me after 8 oz. of whiskey.

Why can't high ABV beers be assessed in smaller samples?
