Of course they will. Because brewers can't be successful without anything but NE IPA  They want the lines, hype, etc...

Hahaha I want to agree, but in this situation, he's definitely not going for that. Generic Phish Reference has been on tap for 3+ weeks now. And they don't can/distribute kegs, so no one is waiting on line for it.

Agreed on Generic Phish Reference. I stopped by there after the Masthead anniversary release a few weekends ago, and it was just as good as anything at Masthead. His description on Instagram of the beer was pretty funny also, he said it was such a pain in the ass that he won't be doing them too often.

That's good to hear. I like Nobel Beast, just been waiting for their tap list to update some since the last two times I been it's been the same.

I thought generic phish was ok. I have to try it again though I was drinking all kinds of stuff before that.

We (Columbus Brewing Co) have started playing around with some haze. Just two pilot draft batches so far. We'll pour the first one at the Juicy Brews fest in Cbus this weekend, then we'll have both at the OCBA Winter Warmer Fest in Cleveland next Sat (3/3).

    Dagobrah System 6.7%
    Lupulin Cloud 7.2%

These are both draft only pilot batches with amazingly atrocious yields, fyi. But at least we're taking these for a spin.

talked to Masthead folks and they said the same thing re: the yield.

Wow I'm even more surprised at this development then Jackie's Os doing haze. Seems the whole beer world has gone haze crazy.

Interesting about Columbus... Heard from a buddy that was at an event or share that the owner/head brewer or whatever was hating on Trillium and other NE IPA's not long ago. Now they are brewing them? Money talks, I suppose! Just like Jackie O's... Now waiting for Fat Heads to pump one out lol

Sounds similar to Noble Beast, who brewed one and said the same thing about yields:

"Ok trendy beer people. I made a Double NEIPA with Terrestrial Brewing Company. It’s permanently hazy. The damn malted oats clogged my grain handling system. The stupid amount of hops clogged the heat exchanger and then the fermenter. It was a long Brew day. That being said, the aroma on this beer is HUGE and it tastes wonderful. I’ve never come close to using this many hops in a 10bbl batch of beer and I’ve never had as depressing of a yield as this beer after removing said hops. It’s 8% and it’s called Generic Phish Reference after those dirty hippies at Terrestrial. Enjoy."

Let's see...what kind of brewery can you buy when you brew different styles of IPA in Ohio?

    West Coast IPA - $22,000,000:

NEIPA - maybe $75,000? Does it come with the wood pile and SUV?

To Fat Head's defense, they brew solid as hell across the board. Not just IPA's...

So for that, they deserve that epic facility. Can't wait...

Outside of Ohio, though, Treehouse just spent ~18.5 Million on their new facility. So NE IPA's can make you significant money, FWIW. They don't even distro, as most are aware. That's pretty crazy all things considered.

Kinda makes you wonder why Hoof hasn't even expanded to a four car garage.

Interesting and I hope to try next week. Are you trying cryo processed hops in these beers for flavor and/or yield?

We did not on these two. I can say that Dagobrah System features Galaxy, Azacca, and Mosaic. Lupulin Cloud is not entirely done receiving hops just yet.

Ummm....huh? I dunno? This could have been me. I love hearing about things that were supposedly "heard" second and third hand and provide no detail whatsoever.
I've had some incredible versions of these types of hoppy beers, and I've had some that are really bad. No matter what we end up brewing, we want to try to do it well.
We've always been fascinated with what hops are capable of and have wanted to experiment with different yeast strains, etc but it's not always convenient, especially without a taproom. We're just having some fun with it right now, so we're not exactly cashing in on the dozen or so kegs that will go out for distro.

Guys at CBC must actually miss the constant nagging about bottling Bodhi.

"When will you start canning Dagobrah, brah?"

I still believe Fat Heads is the one Cleveland brewery that will never touch NEIPAs. Though I know Matt would excel at it.
