I admit that I've never had a Monkish beer before, so be honest. Are they worth the hype?

I was planning on swinging by after work. I'm wondering if there's going to be a sweet spot lull between opening madness and the post work rush or if it's just going to keep steadily filling up as the night progresses. Looking forward to refreshing this page all day to see how it's going.

I'm also in the "never had any monkish" camp. Anything pouring today that I should especially try and snag?

The Mixed Ferm stuff is less hyped but its absolutely worth seeking out. The hops? Meh its not that different from Other Half and I prefer OH, the only one that I've had that I've been really impressed by was the de Garde collab.

I wish I could have gotten that de Garde collab. The only Monkish I had was the Beer Hope Meatballs which was a collab as well and I didn't think it was anything crazy good

LGA 2 LGB was great, but wouldn't stand in line for it. Life Is Foggy was fine. About to get LAX 2 JFK and Babbleship. Was hoping to try Insert Hip Hop Reference Here, but it's not on tap.

Appreciate the review on LGA 2 LGB. As much as I want the collabs, I'd rather avoid the madness, especially with the LIC and Interboro drops happening.

To any soldiers who plan to stand in line, godspeed.

I don't value my time or sleep as much as I probably should so I'll probably be there.

Monkish locals that I’ve sent OH to have the same reaction I’m seeing from OH locals to Monkish. It’s tribalism on two very good and very similar breweries.

I might get a lot of shit for this, but I just don't get the hype. I tried all the Monkish IPA's and they all taste exactly like OH IPA's. Maybe it's just the recent talk I've been hearing on that stupid Facebook group about how this beer would be worth it, because it was brewed at Monkish, but they don't stand out as anything spectacular. I'm not waiting in some absurd line for a beer that tastes like something OH would brew on any other weekend. And don't get me wrong, this is not a negative, all the beers were awesome, just not worth the absurdity that was whatever you would call lining up for beer at 12 on a Friday afternoon. Its the same old In-N-Out / Shake Shack, Tupac / Biggie debate that will go on for forever.

Is there another collab coming down the pipes? I sincerely hope not, 2 shitshow releases this month alone is nuts, don't really need another one in a few weeks.

Here's my opinion- obviously in this thread we all have the opportunity to go to other half pretty frequently. Subjectively, they make the best "hazy N.E. style" IPA's in NY. They have that style nailed down obviously. Since we have access to these beers, why would we need to line up overnight to wait for beers that won't be any better than what we already have access to? Not to mention there are so many other great breweries in NY making this style of beer. Will these Monkish collabs be any better than the 500 other IPA's Other Half has already made? Doubtful. Just like the anniversary beers being so hyped up. Are they great? Yes, but so is almost everything else they make...

Ehh, it's my opinion monkish cans are overrated, but it makes sense because getting them is such a pain. If I waited in line at OH to come away with 6 cans or some BS, I'd be pretty picky about trading them 1-1 with a beer someone could get cases of.

This makes sense. I might be wrong, but wasn't the first IPA Monkish brewed/canned a collab with Other Half.
