I completely forgot what I was going to say. I'm going to warm up some chicken and dumplings and watch Wagon Train. I have a Foothills Hoppyum and a Flensburger Pils for later. Cheers..

I'm having a hard time with this one. Why are verticals stupid? And if they are stupid, and you still collect them, doesn't that make you.... ah never mind.

Lol you are funny. Had beers from Melvin, Weldwerks, and Crooked Stave. Fine Breweries but no man. Not even close

This might sound funny coming from someone who doesn't review beer on this site, but there aren't a lot of people reviewing beer well these days. They can tick the hell out of it, but review it? Not so much.

Unless abeer is really, really good, or really, really bad, I just give everything on UT a 4. I'm yet to be called out for my scores there (and, I've given some not very good beers a 4), but regularly get messages about the scores I give here, where I grade much tougher.

You're right, you commenting on the average quality of how others review does seem funny.

Different varieties of wheat (apparently) have different flavors, both qualitative and quantitative. One unexpected thing discovered from *NOFA-NY's Restoring Grain Growing to NY project, is that some of the old varieties** have more/better/different
flavor than standard modern varieties. Not sure how it affects your discussion, but it might.
    *Northeast Organic Farming Association
**Before railroads opened up the West & Midwest, NY was the leading wheat producer. The modern varieties are better-adapted to the warmer, drier growing conditions to the west, so older varieties were used here.
Wait 'til Bezos buys them. He's going to own ~everything.
*Maxwell Smart voice* 'Ah........the ol' Lumpers vs Splitters debate." In biology , especially botany, that's The Never Ending Story . Sometimes one side is ascendant , sometimes the other. I don't imagine it will ever stop with beer either. Can't wait 'til a DNA test is a part of the specs for every beer.:smile:
Look at their other reviews/ratings. In some other place :zipper_mouth:, they don't count until you have done a certain #. If those reviews actually did cause any issues, that protocol might help. *shrug*
    & your point is?

That's probably true in about every endeavor that deals with the public, and has a geekdom. Trick is not letting on. Let them have their thrills, and not realize that it is work.

I'm glad you pointed that out. I was tempted to say something but thought that the statement was clear enough.

Ill say it. 90% of beers are not improved with age.

Some (I/II/A)PAs are very good, but most just taste like tree. I literally have no idea how this is the most popular beer style in the world.

I'd say 99.9% of beers that people think should improve with age, don't improve, or even change neutrally, with age.

    Uh ... no.
Maybe just old? Are you checking dates? Luck of the draw, & that's just what you've mostly gotten?Maybe you're just especially adept at tasting those elements?

The flavor difference between a good raspberry vinegar and a good raspberry sour are disconcertingly negligible....
