I am now dumber for having read this comment...yes Columbus needs Brewdog in order to bring people to the city. We truly have nothing else going for us at all.

College football disagrees with you. And judging by the traffic and construction, I think the economy is fine, too.

They broke ground on the hotel back in November.

Thanks to you both for the info. The idea that they would have played up the PR if they had even a modest hand in it rings true for me.

Amazing that something this simple can make you dumber.

Not a college football fan so I maintain my position.

Guarantee there won't be refrigerators in the showers and taps in the rooms.

Just like that guarantee that a hotel will never happen in the U.S. eh?

Did one of their Beer Schools and the guy running it said the Franklinton spot will be where they brew and store their sours. They hired the former Wicked Weeds brewer to brew here as well. This is a mile away from my house. I'm stoked.

I mean, I haven't seen the answers to these questions but I imagine those are something that have been considered. Minibars are expensive at hotels because hotels buy the stuff and mark it up. I imagine that if the stuff is being literally brewed on site that there's probably not going to be a significant markup (especially since there's a Kroger down the street selling $9.99 six packs of Brewdog). Not to mention I doubt that the DogHouse is only going to be the same price as a Red Roof Inn. I'm sure cost of beer is probably factored into the room cost itself.

As far as the age thing goes, it could be as simple as saying that the hotel requires guests to be 21 years of age or older. What stops guests under 21 from slaying a hotel minibar at the Hyatt?

They will probably have a system similar to what they have at Jacob’s Field; metered draft and charge per ounce.

Will believe it when I see it.

Some questions I have from those who are so convinced they will have a tap or beer fridge in each room....

How will they control/prevent minor consumption and the liability associated with it?

Will this be a 21 and older only hotel?

Will there be mechanisms in place to only provide access to beer in rooms by adults only?

    Riddle me this.

I think healthy skepticism is fair, and of course there are logistical hurdles that will need to be addressed in order for this to be a successful endeavor.

But if this ends up being the prototype that other bigger and better breweries eventually follow, is that such a bad thing?

While I'm very skeptical it will be all they advertise, I did say I think it's a good thing in my original post. Personally I'd check it out if it were in IN but doubt I'd travel to OH to see it.
