Damn I'm popping the question next weekend. Must be BA engagement season.

I was thinking about acquiring all three of the henna's, but not sure if i should pull the trigger on the approx $500 in cash and beer it would take to get them all. May open a Prop '17 and a 20 yo dom perignon that my dad gave me.

 

Just had a friend ask me if it would be feasible to work at 3 or 4pm the day after DLD. Here was my response.

I usually work the next day, but I work in a bar. The thing about DLD is that most people start drinking between 7-9am, so you’re done pretty early. The first year I went I slept the whole way home and was home and in bed by 7pm. Year 2 I was passed out at our hotel at 3pm, and last year I was awake until 6pm. You wake up the next morning, devour some hotel breakfast and drive home. It’s not unreasonable to work the next day.

Each year I start DLD sharing at 6-6:30A.M. and I've been able to last to the end of DLD two of the three years I've attended, with the exception being the 2016 monsoon year when I lasted until about 6PM. With that in mind, I've been a huge waste of space for at least 2 days after the fest. I usually have to take Monday off too.

 

I don't even think of these things until I secure tickets.

That said:

2015 group B, I was fine and left at 6pm next day wasn't too bad.

2016 Group A I was a mess and was picked up somewhere between 2-5pm and don't remember like two days of my life. (Don't go to beer fests when you are on heavy medication for intestinal bacteria.)

2017 had tickets for group C but decided not to go as I was still battling intestinal bacteria. A repeat of 2016 would not be good for my relationship with my fiancee.

 

I actually agree. I've been in pretty decent shape the past couple years because of passing out on the earlier side (and that included having a couple extra beers once I got home, since I was dumb).

 

Once he's married a Marshamallow Handjee will be the only kind he'll get and he'll be lucky if that happens once a year....

 

He'll get you back if you have an outdoor wedding...

At least once, if not twice, my entire next day I was vibrating uncontrollably. For my type of work, that would really not optimal. My state of mind was very likely way off-kilter also, but I kept my life very simple those days, i.e. sitting on the couch.

 

In the immortal words of Chris Rock: "Yeah, you could do it..., but that don't mean it's to be done!"

 

Things got real, real rocky midway. Pizza party + nap, and we ended the night at the hotel, smoking hookah, drinking a mini-keg of Oberon and playing cards. Felt shockingly good the next day.

 

You can work the next day. Just stop drinking by 4 or 5 pm. Chug a Gatorade, 2 glasses of water, and 3rd full glass of water with a pedialyte packet, 2 Tylenol's and a multivitamin before you go to sleep.

Then a good breakfast and another multivitamin, and a Gatorade in the morning.

The pedialyte really helps.

I don't recommend working the next day though.

 

I'd recommend Ibuprofen (Advil). Too much alcohol and Acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be bad for your liver.

 

Theoretically possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. I don't think I could predict what kind of shape I would be in. Last year, I was responsible and could have done it if I had to. 2016, I was essentially dead until 1 the next day and barely functional after.

What type of job matters too. Cubicle drone where you're mostly left alone and the stakes are low? Okay. Any job that requires higher brain functions or may aggravate a hangover? Nope!

 

How many sleeps until the next DLD announcement from FFF (or is it 3F)?

 

I should add that I definitely wouldn't make plans for Sunday as a first timer. Purely conjecture, but I would guess that many of the people that became internet famous were noobs.

You mean cannabis beer, right? I hear it’s gonna be all the rage. Get you drunk and high at the same time! Maybe Sleep can get with the times and do a reissue called Dopedrinker.

On top of all of the liquid enjoyment that said person enjoyed at DLD.

I'm not suggesting your cure doesn't work, but I would think a pair of Depends (Extra Heavy Flow) would be in order for the night of....
