Karjala III lager. Competition: Koff III lager. Guinness dry stout was a great runner up. Was a great fan of the Guinness Book of World Records too

Drank a bit in HS, and some before( don't judge) the HS parties were always Bud or Miller, I was always in the Bud camp. Add in Black Label, Molson, Tuborg gold, Moosehead. Liked ok, no love. Then came a youth group trip to Germany junior year, 3 weeks of awesomeness. Sitting at an outdoor cafe in West Berlin, drinking rounds of Berliner Weisse, alternating between the raspberry and woodruff syrup. Pale sun, good group of friends and one of my brothers, yup, good stuff. Thought, I could get used to this, 'nuff said.

I drank all the regular stuff in high school--Lite, Busch, etc. Whatever was available. The first beer I tried when I got to Germany was Kirner Pils. I remember being amazed at the flavor compared to the only other pilsner i'd had which was Lite. Kirner was readily available where I lived. Now days I get cans of Bitburger and Konig which is pretty good to me.

Was working summers in the excavating business (and still am), was about 16 or 17 and the guys would buy Bud cans before heading back to the shop which was usually around a half-hour drive. Still had the old-style tabs that peeled off and you ended up sticking into the can. Riding home in a pick-up with a couple older guys and having that smell: I was in love. This was mid 80s. Times have changed in many ways...

Don't know if I've responded to this already (is there a way to check??)

For me it was Magic Hat 'Heart of Darkness', Shed's 'Mountain Ale', Otter Creek 'Copper Ale' and anything Wolaver's really .... RIP.

Sure, I drank a fair amount of BMC at HS parties, but was very lucky to have a vibrant local craft scene even back in the late 90s/early aughts.

Back when I was 19-21, it was a tough tie between Sam Adams Oktoberfest and Magic Hat #9, with #9 probably coming out on top by the margin of year-round availability. I can still do these on occasion but hardly ever truly crave them anymore. Next was Sweetwater 420 due to a trip to Atlanta with a couple of nights of Umphrey’s McGee. It took a few years, but my pallet discovered IPAs, my state (NC) began to boom with more and better local craft breweries, and the rest, as they say, is history.

EDIT: try using the ZIP code lookup tool on their website: http://schlitzbrewing.com/

Oh that sucks. I always saw Schlitz in Tucson when I lived there a couple years ago.

Try this: reach out to Pabst customer service. Include your ZIP code and they will give you a spreadsheet of all locations that carry the products you're looking for (I did this for Colt 45 Double Malt, Country Club, Olympia and Schaefer and they were able to help me track down what I was looking for)

Grandpa didn't talk a whole lot about the war. He brought home a Japanese .21 caliber rifle and a pack of unfiltered cigarettes in a semi-opaque green plastic weather case that he'd "liberated" from fallen enemies. I remember a few stories though, such as him using pork rind for engine bearings, and a funny story about using a Polynesian's name for a password. It seems King Launa Lua ruled the island we had occupied, and the Japanese couldn't pronounce his name correctly, so they used it as a password. With a crooked smile on his face and a gleam in his eye, he said, "We'd demand the password and know to shoot anyone who responded with "Rauna Rua." I don't if it's true, but the way he told the story nearly made us all piss our pants. Ahhh...good times.

Sounds like the code talkers. My Dad brought his entire platoon back alive under harrowing and daunting circumstances. We received letters from his group for many years speaking of his leadership and coolness under fire. They truly loved him as we all did. He died at 58 and definitely struggled through PSD for years. He also brought home a Purple Heart and a personal commendation from George C. Marshall for their action on Breaknock and Kilay Ridge on Leyte. I want to visit these places....

Well, considering I was 5 years old in 1975, I didn't really look for it until I was in my 20's. By that time it was no longer sold here. I've no doubt the stuff is no better than PBR or buttweiper.

My buddy and I went on a trip to Vancouver BC when we were 19. I was in California at the time. We spent a lot of time in our hotel bar drinking legally for the first time, ordering every drink we ever wanted to try. Then came Molson Canadian. The first beer I ever truly loved. When I got back I convinced a local convenience store, that would occasionally let us buy underage, to order some so I could continue to drink it.

My tastes have changed a lot over the last 12 years which included 3 years in Portland OR, 4 in Burlington VT, and going on 3 years in Asheville, but every now and then I get a craving for a Molson Canadian and have to hunt down a 6 pack.

Sam Adams Winter Lager and Smuttynose Old Brown Dog. I was 19, my best friend was 21, he shared some of the stuff that he bought. Prior to that I was mostly drinking Amaretto (don't judge) or Irish Whisky.

I always find it interesting how some acquire a taste whereas others either never do or never needed to. For myself, I have been in love with the taste of beer since my very first sip, which was long before I was legally old enough to drink it lol. Cheers.
