New to Ohio (2018)

As predicted earlier, I picked up a growler of Hop Juju at Brecksville Heinen's for $12.....or 1/2 the price of the brewery, or less than a 4-pack.

I can only assume we'll see it at more places going forward.

 

I was really surprised how good their Kolsch was... It is at least as good as Fat Head's @miketd

 

Most of the people here wouldn't know what to do with a kolsch or kristalweizen.

 

They'd probably make a great drain cleaner with all of that spoiled BB Oro gunking up my pipes

 

I stopped by Boss Dog last night and thought the fruit beer I had was no better than ok but the food is very good.

Green Road Heinen's is selling growlers of Arcadia Brewery's BBA Shipwreck Porter for $17, or about twice of what an infected 12 oz costs. Crowlers for $10.

 

101 Bottles in Kent had it the other day.

 

Warehouse Beverage posted that they got some in on Wednesday, but I don't know if they still have it or not..

 

Apologies if this has already been discussed here. With Cigar City's recent distro expansion, does anyone know if Ohio is on the horizon?

I am sure it's only a matter of time. How I see it, with more competition than ever in the marketplace, large breweries need to expand to new markets to even produce the same amount of beer they currently do as their stuff begins to sit in existing locations due to competition on the shelf.

 

I was told last spring they'd be here last fall, that obviously didn't happen.

With them brewing at Perrin up in Michigan, I'd imagine it's a matter of time.

 

It looked like it showed up elsewhere in the state last week, but El Lupulo Libre 4-packs hit Dayton today.

 

I know this is a bit late, but the usual spots in Lakewood all got some last week.

 

Are there dates on the packages?

 

Nope just cases. At least for the near term you know they're fresh.

 

Hello everyone. Just wanted to jump in and let anyone in the Dayton area or anyone who might visit the Dayton area know that my brewery Branch & Bone Artisan Ales will be open soon and while we have a strong focus on mixed fermentation we will also have plenty of opaque and flavorful Pale Ale/IPA/DIPA beers on tap. We love funk, hops, and barrel aging so that is essentially the direction a lot of our lineup will be headed. We make some very interesting Berliner style beers as well with different ingredients. I've seen some people posting some of your growlers and stuff on the Dayton beer group. I assume you've been doing some test batches and releasing them to early supporters or something?

Anyways, looks cool, plus you are close to the other breweries, which is nice.

 

I don't pass through Dayton often, but definitely pumped to come down and try what you and John are cranking out.

 

Did any goose island brassiere noir make it around?

 

No distro here that I know of. It was one of my favorite beers on tap at goose last year though (sucker for wine ba stouts) and luckily had a buddy in Chicago snap me one when it dropped a couple weeks ago.
