I don’t think many who’ve had Jwakes best and whatever you’re calling world class stouts would agree with you.

What are the world class that you drink on the regular?

You are making a mistake writing off all JWB stouts after having like three of them. The big hitters (IWAAD, LUN) are right up there with the rest of the world class stuff I have had. If you can find a refrigerated-since-purchase IWAAD or LUN for $300 that would be a relative steal. Desperado also gets a big nod. If you want to say you won't bother with them or they're too difficult to get that is fine, but for everyone else reading this I'd recommend seeking them out in a heartbeat.

Any idea if all bottles sold out yesterday? Have a depo down street from wakefield today and will try to swing by. Either way, I’d be happy to grab a can of Hey Brother

Absolutely not writing them off at all, but just saying what I've had so far have been totally unimpressive. Cigar City beats those few bottles with even their weakest attempts.

That said, I'll happily take an IWAAD and LUN off your hands, $4$ original cost  But seriously though, how can you recommend to anyone seeking them out though? There isn't anything approachable about obtaining a JWB stout. And why do you say refrigerated since purchase? Are there rumors of infection, or is it just that the added flavoring components fade quickly?

Those stouts are adjunct heavy (Coffee, Vanilla, Coconut), I assume he means so that those flavors are preserved as much as possible.

And to throw my 2 cents in, IWAAD and LUN are in my top 5 beers I have ever had.

I do find it slightly interesting to see those called world class. Do they taste good? Yes. However, to me, IWAAD and Bake were one-dimensional sugar bombs. They didn't even taste like beer. The Bake bottle actually would have went unfinished at a share of 6 guys if I hadn't said F it and finished it. What was also disappointing as that both that and IWAAD had zero barrel character despite being barrel aged. I did enjoy LUN and thought that had some solid barrel character. I mean, I guess if you're saying world-class in the realm of pastry stouts, then maybe these are up there. In the general scheme of stouts, well I guess I just don't get it. Don't even get me started on Voodoo Woman, BA Gimme S'more (and the base) and Han Shot First...

FWIW, I do really like Desperado, Big Poppa, Boss Tycoon, Brunch On This, and Dipped in Sauce. Obviously not all those are BA, but the ones that were actually tasted like they spent time in a barrel.

TL;DR - Saying JWB has an amazing stout portfolio is interesting to me. More like the hits are amazing, and the misses are dog shit. As you can see, I keep drinking them though, so the joke is probably on me.

I wish I would have traded mine and never opened it. Wasn’t all that great of an experience. Hopefully my friends enjoyed it but based on how the bottle didn’t get finished, I’m guessing it didn’t blow their minds

Just curious. ( Don't matter to me if you do or don't like jwb)

Can you give an answer to the question...about 3 year old brewery?

Had a friend who was about 40th in line and still got a Bake. Spot in line wasn't really important. They were letting in people 5 at a time with about 5 festival bottles and 1 bake among them available per group let in. 1 festival raffle bottle pp. They distributed the bottles pretty fairly. Prices are a whole 'nother topic though....

My post was geared more towards bottles like PB &Gains and Forbidden Forest, or year old kettle sours being sold for $50.

I like what I've tried from JWB but do any breweries charge their customers $1500 for some of their bottles? The only 2 that come to mind are $1000 and that's Westbrook and Hair of the Dog, which is for charity

Not to nit-pick, but those $1000 bottles of ABMC @ Westbrook definitely were not for charity.

I am guessing that those that bow at the altar of Wakefield were not in the OG Club

Side by side years old intensely fruited Berliners? I enjoy DFPF a lot, but I mean come on...

FYI guys I was out there and walked away when I was finding out how much they were charging for these bottles. Literally beers they were selling for $40 or $50 at wakefest 2 weeks ago were going for $80 to $100 now just because it was a "cellar" sale. I'm in the local beer community and he's getting a worse and worse reputation when it comes to greed and how he treats locals. But in all honesty, if he had said 'hey this is for a charity,' all good charge as much as you want. But to jack up the price because its a "cellar" sale is too greedy in my book.

IMO he’s combating the max profits mentality by charging that. It’s a free market, so I have no issue with it. If someone wants those beers bad enough and didn’t win the the raffle this gives them an opportunity to buy the beers.

He’s a troll for sure though.

I’ve only heard some stories. Don’t know exactly what happened.
