The first few pages of this thread will give you some idea. There's another beer site with a thread that has a much more detailed history on how he screwed over OG's. I think the one on here was deleted. I'm not going to rehash it but if you do some digging you'll see. I can't in good conscience support him. Way too much ego and braggadocio for me.

I don't think you discourage bad behavior by exemplifying it

Based on my experience, coconut doesn't seem to hold up that well. Nothing unique to JWB.

I have had plenty of weak CC beer but I still applaud them for what they've done and Wayne for pushing the envelope without going into silly 'were going to brew beer with chicken nuggets!' territory. I'll spare naming the general releases and El Cat beers that I simply gave away over the years and were legitimately in the DNF category for me.

Was it IWAAD/LUN B1 or B2 you had? I haven't bothered with any of the B2 releases yet. Some friends and I had a share and they were the stars of the show for us out of a batch of some pretty OK stuff:[IMG]

Both were better than Bake for me.

I always considered myself pretty new money only having my first craft beer in 2004 (Delerium Noelle thanks to Beer World in Largo) - I'd love to know what beers are better than these so I can trade for them before I hit another share.

Not all of us  And I don't quite consider myself one to bow at any altar, I just like great beer/wine/spirits/food.

It was Batch 1 IWAAD. There is no batch 2 of LUN. I can name you tons of better stouts, but it’s only my opinion: Ardea Insignia, Pugachev Royale, Pugachev Maple, Maman, the few Derivations I’ve tried thanks to having friends who hate money, most of the Black Magicks, BBT, OG Vanilla, the ANTEAD’s, and plenty more. To me, these beers have way more character and depth than a straight up sugar bomb like IWAAD and Bake. To be fair, barleywine is my drug over stouts, though.

I have no problem with JWB making money, however the small amount of revenue from putting exorbitant sticker prices on a few beers will likely do more PR damage than the increased revenue was worth.

At the end of the day, its just beer. You want to charge $1500 for a bottle of beer, cool, but expect some flack for doing so.

I am not 'independently wealthy' enough to thinking $1500 for a bottle of beer is worth it. I'd rather have a nice vacation or a whole lot of bourbon for that price, but that's just me. Kudos to a brewery that can charge that much and get people to pay for it though, makes me want to get my adjunct beers out into the public that much quicker.

Making my first visit to J.Wakefield on 3/22, DFPF comes on 3/17.

What are the chances it will be on Tap that week? Are the releases often featured on draft after the bottles/cans are sold?

Really hoping for it. They had both that and Miami Madness on tap at Other Half which is 20 minutes away from me last week, and I didn't even know. Major fomo.

Hopefully they have at least one fruit-forward sour if not those...

It was on tap about 3 weeks ago when I passed by the tap room. So a very good chance.

It’s just simple math, dude. Not a proverb.

Him charging more cut into the profits of the people who buy to resale. May keep some from buying because the margins of profit are gonna be much smaller. Allowing some who actually wanted to just drink the beer a chance to buy it...

1 bottle of DFPF per person. Huge pass this year. Disappointed

JWB is claiming they’ll release bottle count before release so unless they have 1500 bottles (they won’t), they’ll have far less bottled DFPF than years past. Wonder if the magnums they are raffling off affect the 750ml bottles

1pp probably means a pass for me. Was going to be in town for the release but not worth wait for hours for 1 bottle. Real shame.
