Guys, I spent the entire weekend drinking big craft brew shelf beers (Sams 76 and Founders Solid Gold and it was glorious. I think I spent about 15 bucks total. I feel like this thread is a safe place to admit that, right, RIGHT?

I'd say that's a small but good example of what's come to be known as "toxic masculinity".

I came here to say that I think Sam Adams hit it out of the park with Sam '76 (and I'm not really "lager" guy.)

Definitely. Super drinkable. The lady and I drank the sixer we bought Friday night and went back for another one just to keep in the fridge throughout the week. The Solid Gold was great too but she wasn't feeling it as much.

I think it has been said in this thread already (maybe even by me?) but, Sam's makes the best lagers out there, regardless of how people view/think of them.

Here's the thing . . . if the beer is demonstrably "bad", drainpour away. Nobody's saying anyone should drink bad beer. Well . . . at least I'm not.

If the beer is just not to your liking, then this becomes an issue, IMO. If you're on BA, you could have read reviews and/or asked for a taste if it was a beer that you were unsure about.

However, this brings up the motivation for drinking the beer in the first place. If you're choosing a beer that you're unsure about, why are you choosing it in the first place? Because you haven't had it and you want to tick it off? If so, that's a pretty terrible reason to pick a beer and leads to inaccurate reviews/ticks. Lots of different beers out there and you'll never have them all. Pick one that you'll probably enjoy and tick away.

Then, on top of that, there are the people who are just too busy or important to finish their beer. I'm just not a fan of those people. Finish the beer that you ordered. It's OK. You're not missing out on anything better. I promise.

I like The Alchemist, Russian River, Hill Farmstead, Trillium, etc... but even without bringing price and availability into the equation, Torpedo is still pretty much an exemplary American IPA drinking experience.

only common beer I get legitimately "giddy" when it's on tap. Why was Hop Bullet even made?

"But what do you have that I haven't had before?" - That's why (but Hop Bullet is a fine beer).

Ehh I left thinking it was one of the worst Sierra Nevada IPA's, which I personally don't think is a slight. Tropical Torpedo gets a bad rep tbh.

There were 66 posts between that post and your previous one. I was about to send out an APB. Glad you're OK.

I'll see your controversial opinion and raise you!

I'm generally a Sierra Nevada fanboy but if I had to choose my least favorite beer of theirs it would probably be Torpedo.

May god have mercy on my soul.

I think I used to like it, it's been so long though. I kind of remember always thinking it was overly bitter though, and would take Celebration over it any day.

You should stop letting People Who Drink Beer Wrong live rent-free in your head.

For the record, what you're describing has nothing to do with me or my habits, and furthermore, I am not in need of nor do I desire any advice on how to choose what beers I drink.

I like Sierra Nevada's lagers more than their ales.
