Anyone else find this offering a little disappointing?
I love the regular Fionn being a hazelnut bomb with an almost salty aftertaste, so good.
But i get none of that here with very muted hazelnut flavor, aroma and lackluster barrel.
Very surprised AC would call this BA Fionn.
What do others think.

 

UPDATE: It's better as it really warms up (almost room temps.) but not the hazelnut bomb with barrel i was hoping for, and expect from Fionn and AC.

Bottles will probably be better as is usually the case. Always let your ba stuff warm up

 

Barrel presence is usually always lackluster as the stouts don't see that much time in barrels (from what I understand).

 

Just had it. Thought it was pretty awesome.

 

It's your call ultimately but if someone got bottles at 1145 today...even with that influx....ten should get you one

 

AC's barrel program has, IMO, been pretty disappointing all together. They're not bad beers, but I haven't had anything I prefer barreled than unbarreled, except maybe No Promises, which was borderline undrinkable unbarreled and decent BA.

 

So is the BAIGCCS all hype and resell BS? Serious question as I’ve never had it.

 

Bottle's don't get resold for $300+ just because it's "hyped". It has to taste pretty amazing to obtain a value like that..

 

Thought the BA No Promises was excellent. Was really sweet but tasted like German Chocolate Cake with all the coconut floaties. Was very impressed for first AC beer.

 

It's good, very good, but there is a whole lot of that 1pp hype baked into it.

 

Please understand i love most of their stouts, porters, barleywine and the BA versions are always very good some even great, that's why i was so surprised this Fionn was so mediocre.

 

This beer was actually better than I thought it would be. I had been previously underwhelmed by their BA releases but thought the hazelnut came through nicely.

 

I stand corrected..... With the news of today's line up..... I'm not nearly as confident that you will get a bottle at your line up time.


Sure you still might.... I'm just less confident saying u will

EDIT: I should have done this before replying but, according to the FB event page, line is already 400-500ish deep.

 

I had CLN LVN and Fionn last night. Did not love either of them.

 

Guess I'll check when I land tomorrow

 

It's starting to sound like getting there at 8:00 AM on Thursday may result in missing out.

At this point, we have reached a body count that is close to the same number of bottles available for sale. If you are not already in line, you will likely not get a bottle.

Rumors about us cancelling our releases are not true. We are very sad to see what has happened to our friends over at Cycle, but the show must go on.
