That sounds to me like exactly what the town would hope for to prove their case. Believe it or not, but they want to keep us away. The town has openly stated that these issues are mostly because no one expected Sand City to be as successful as they have been. Us showing up and providing evidence that supports the town's decision will only hurt sand city. Neckbeards with coolers hanging on the sidewalk is what the town wants gone.

IMO what sand city needs is a massive crowd of professional, intelligent, respectful citizens to show up and talk about how they and their families have rediscovered Northport as a result of Sand City. People should show up and speak about how because Sand City is there that they now take their families to the town for pizza, ice cream, general shopping...and evenings in the fine restaurants in town and that with the govt forcing sand city out, the anchor that brings people with their families to Northport, we will take our dollars with Sand City to wherever they go.

Think about it, does the town want the neckbeards (who probably make the old crotchety govt to cross the street when they see us coming) to leave or do they want professional adults with good jobs and hefty disposable income to leave? I know it was a bunch of years ago now, but there was some european event and they banned beer because it was low class...beer still has the reputation to the uninitiated. When you see a mob of people waiting in line for beer and they are scrubbed out in their appearance, not shaved, and sneakily consuming alcohol from solo cups...what do you think? oh, that's a classy group or what a bunch of scumbags?

Either way sand city is gone and this meeting is for show. What we want to do is show up and let northport know that they f'ed up and that we are going to let them know with our dollars. I'd say your only hope in getting the town to consider a change of heart is if all the local businesses show up and threaten to leave, but that won't happen. Alternatively, getting a ton of citizens to show up and say that they are going to speak at the ballot box could also send a message...but beyond that, it's kind of like you begging Todd/Jason not to ban you after you misbehaved here. Sure you have 10,000 reviews and have contributed to the community, but they don't NEED you and they won't feel it if you are gone.

AFAIK Sand City has already found the next spot or are in the process of solidifying it. I don't know the finer details about their current lease, but I imagine if they were able to leave, they would have.

tl;dr - it's already over, but don't add insult to injury by demonstrating the behavior that the town complains about, esp at the hearing (unless you enjoy paying tickets).

I’m pretty sure @2Xmd was being sarcastic but I agree with your post completely.

Rather sad from a community economic development perspective. I would think that the local restaurants and retailers would appreciate the additional foot traffic it brings into the town.

Since the brewery has become so popular, the owners could market themselves to politicians in other towns that are looking to revitalize their Main Street. A business like this could be the anchor to revitalizing a Long Island town's Main Street that has been hurt by the malls, big box stores and Amazon. Once the people start coming other businesses will pop up. Using this type of approach should enable the owners to negotiate some economic incentives for a move. They've built a great business, let them capitalize on it.

Northport's short sightedness could turn into a long term benefit for the owners if they handle it properly. All the best to them...

Like someone ese mentioned, this is not the first business this town govt has run out of town. Its like going against the mob. If you like it how it is going for you, you keep your mouth shut. ..at least that's what this all stinks of.

Having my 2nd can of oops I sparkled my sweatpants now and I stand behind my initial sentiment that this is far and away my favorite can from sand city to date (maybe b1 of oops Nelson). I have heard some complaints about a burn. I get none. Discuss...

Sand City is going to be doing a mobile can release in Pittsburgh next Friday. Pretty neat.

Evan, you know I love you, but I’ll go ahead and disagree. I’ve rated 68 out of the 78 beers from sand city, and I have this in my bottom 10. Still a 4.0, but Kevin has set the bar so high that it feels like a miss. For me, it was meh, but to each their own!!!

Personally, I don't really understand these mobile can releases. It seems like an NYC thing which doesn't really get reciprocated. I'd prefer it if they just distro'd their cans to all the local shops. Some of their cans even made it to Good Beer NYC which was a bit of a tease.

Anyone stop by today and have an idea about availability? Thinking of swinging by tomorrow and looking for Best Seat, Fires, and the Evil Twin collab.

I also hated Oops I sparked my sweatpants. I’ll save one can for aging, but I had to drain pour my first one.

This batch of Power of One was great though. Saving the Hygge for the weekend.

They’re only open when they announce it on instagram. They have to get a permit from the town.

Yes, but IG says they are selling cans from scudder today and tomorrow.

Comp Ford, I wasn’t there today, but I’m sure you will be fine tomorrow, for anything you want. If you miss out, lemme know and I’ll hook you up.
