I had both versions on draft (I have yet to crack the bottles) and thought they were both really good. The Uganda coffee was excellent, super coffee aroma and taste. Both were thin but overall I was a fan.

Anyone seeing them in Chicagoland area yet? I haven't but have been looking.

Heading to St. Louis tomorrow. Is Madagascar/its variants still on draft at the taproom?

I have limited time, and I'm definitely checking out Urban Chestnut. Is 4 Hands tap room worth checking out? It's also the Superbowl at 530, so that will be a priority.

Evening all, I am hoping some of the folks on this thread could provide some clarity on how to tell the difference between Madagascar batches? Do any of the bottles have dates or do the labels differ? Any help would be appreciated.

I flat out didn't like the 5 or so lactose IPAs I've had, so I'll probably stay away from this, although I may let this one be my final judgement on the style.

Lactose IPAs--the #1 beer trend I can't wait to die. Go. drink. soda.

Lactose IPAs are like playing your favorite music through a cell phone speaker.

I will say this. They are stamped on with ink and they are hard to see/find at times. I wish 4hands would date bottles better. Madagascar is great but does not age well and should be drank within 6 months of bottling IMO.

Appreciate the feedback - i cant see any date on these bottles hence my question. I will take a closer look and hopefully figure out which batch. Cheers all.

Ugh. I'm tired of breweries messing with perfection. I get that "new" is always better and that this increases sales, but every time a brewery does this with an absolute classic, it's not as good. I'd be fine with it if they had it in addition to the old version in 6 packs. I may or may not buy the variety pack, depending on what else is in it. I did love the lime version, however, and I'm glad they're bringing it back.
