Three Chiefs Brewing - Los Angeles

Why is Chief's so secretive about their location? A lot of unanswered questions in their IG with not many comments.

as someone who is 1/38th Cherokee I find this brewery name to be offensive and plan to organize a protest

A friend looked up their business info somewhere and it showed Los Alamitos. Not sure if accurate

 

I second State Brewing being on the right track. Plenty of solid beers being brewed there. Project Nicaragua is awesome!

 

I've never been to Arts Dist, but isn't the brewer Devon from PP Solana Beach? I would have hoped for better reviews based on that pedigree.

 

Not sure. But there were 5 of us doing the run. We ordered everything on draft (5oz pours) from Arts. Every glass had Arts beer in it when we left. That’s not good.

 

I think their brown at Arts District was okay. Only thing I ended up liking. But I haven't been there in almost a year.

While on the topic of pretty much every LA-area brewery, does anyone happen to have any intel on who is going into this space?

I have no idea but I everytime I drive past that place, I think how it would be great for something craft beer related.

 

Interesting that a microbrewery in LA will keep the Firestone sign in the remodel, especially since it's a Historic-Cultural Monument. If they make a Double Barrel Ale they should call it "Firestone DBA", or something like that.

 

Or those 20-30 are just the ones making hype styles + AleSmith and Lost Abbey?

Don't see many people talking about Fall, but I think their beer has been really solid... although I am not sure I have seen anything hazy from them and have seen maybe 1 adjunct stout (w/ only vanilla, IIRC). I am from LA so its not like I get to see what they offer weekly, but I stop by any time I am down there.

 

I wouldn't say hype style (and yes Alesmith being one of the 20-30). I don't include Fall, never really been a fan. But I do add in places like Eppig, Amplified, Burning Beard, Modern Times, Societe, Council, as well as Burgeon (this is more hype style...but properly executed, unlike others that attempt it down here).

Edit: Resident and NPBC, damn...not sure how I missed them initially.

 

I guess that's my point... I don't see anyone talking about Societe or asking for their beer in trade groups, but they make good beer. So that is a brewery that is not part of the 20-30 that people talk about but is still worth a visit.

The breweries I see people regularly talking about end up being Alesmith, Lost Abbey, Pure Project, Abnormal, Modern Times, etc...

Most likely will be Signal Hill because Los Al is OC and his instagram says LA.
