Yes, I put the lid on and ran to grab something and BAM, so I was careful not to use the lid the remainder of the time hah. I was just glad it was outside and not in the kitchen...

You should take those brackets off the wort chiller so it sits in the wort more.

I had it pulled out sitting on the thermometer probe just for the pic, I still need to tie them up with copper wire however.

I wouldn't bother with brackets or wire. I always thought the coils shouldn't touch each other so it cools better but it doesn't matter. It would make them easier to clean.

OK so a quick update and a few questions. I have left the beer in the primary for 9 days now and I was planning on transferring to a secondary this weekend to add my blood orange puree. However after reading many different takes on how a secondary is more risky than it's worth I decided to add the puree straight to my primary. I want to dry hop this beer so should I wait until 14 days to add hops or longer? I plan on leaving in the primary for 4 weeks and then bottling, should I test the gravity after 3 weeks or does 4 sound better?

Dry hop 3-7 days out from bottling. I keg but that’s my process. Just make sure the hops drop out and/or rack off the clearest beer you can, as not to pick up any hop particulate. Cold crashing helps if you have the capability. Good luck.

Hey hey hey. I started with extract, then jumped to 5 gallons batch but now im dping BIAB 3 gallons because is easier and take less time to brew, i have a baby girl now so my brewing session cant take long.
Good luck with your brewing and good thing you found beeradvocate, the guys here have helped me so much and i really appreciate it and i know you will too. This community is the best.
Just a tip, if you dont have a fridge to control temp, swamp cooler is a good option but in amazon you can buy a cooler from Cool Brewing that works great i use here in Panama 80F pretty much all year long.

    Happy brew and cheers
