I can't get FW around here but would love to get my hands on some 12oz sucaba. Is it practical to do it $4$? Last year I made a trade for a parabola with a trader who just went down to the store and bought another 7 or 8.

Is sucaba still an easy grab in places or is trading for it going to require more than $4$?

    Thanks in advance

Yes there are some places in California where it is still on shelves. Any reasonable California trader should be doing $4$

Few other places outside of California as well. For example, I grabbed one in Eugene, Oregon last summer along with a few other FW "exclusives" that were just sitting in the cooler for the taking.

It is all over the place in LA, will probably stay on the shelves for at least a few months. I still see 2017 parabola on shelves once in awhile. Definitely $4$

    Hi,

It is on the shelf at a few of my local stores (in VT). $4$ with a reasonably similar quality brew in exchange should work in the ISO/FT forums.

Here in NJ FW boxed beers are usually gone within a day or so. Not a shelf beer.

@rypkr Its on shelves around here, but will likely only last a few weeks at most. $4$ is certainly doable and frankly should be the way to go.

Sounds like you were over at the Bier Stein (or a local Market of Choice grocery store).

That's fairly typical throughout Oregon I think. While not many places have the depth of FW reserve bottling selections you'll find down at 16 tons and Bier Stein (both in Eugene), FW BA stuff does not fly off the shelf here. Most bottle shops here in town (Portland) still have bottles Sucaba on the shelf I believe.

I would think it would be fairly easy to trade for ($4$).

Sure was. Made a point of making a return trip there after you steered me there the first time several years ago when you were in the area and donated a shipping box to my bad habit. Thanks again for all that!

Ha ha. Had forgotten all about that. I'm glad you were able to make it back and had a successful visit to BS. That's great to hear.

To answer the OP, yup, it's generally around for a good long while. Don't pay a premium for it.

Did anybody actually like this year's sucaba though??? I thought there was a bit of an odd taste to it, not to mention '17 parabola drank more like a barleywine than this imo

Shrug. I thought it was OK. Frankly, I don't think the beer shows all that well when young, but seems to improve considerably after a few years of bottle age. YMMV.
