This will be the year FFF announces DLD tickets a day after they go on sale....

I finally turned on my instant notifications for all 3F accounts on Twitter, so I'm expecting a tweet sometime today.

I don't know what I'm more excited for - the festival itself, or the unknown change that is going to cause a huge amount of whining on here and on FB groups. I may have to go with the latter, as I wasn't on FB in prior years, and just seeing the whining on FB from other things such as releases from More or Bottle Logic...the DLD whining has to be off the charts.

I heard from someone who's connected with the city that there won't be any more bottle share.

As part of the discussions with the city to get the new building permits, they weren't going to allow 'outside alcohol' to be permitted on site anymore.

    Big changes coming.

Went to college out there, lots of friends in Indy and up in Munster. I can see your concern...

Stopping the bottle shares would be a huge downer, seeing as that's an element of DLD that a lot of people actually enjoy. I'm sure FFF and their vendors would make more money because they would funnel everyone into taps, but think of the lines! And normally I don't have problem with lines at DLD because I can bottle share as I'm waiting, but if no bottle sharing... then what?! Baby bird feed each other beers we've consumed as part of sharing?!

If not for the guarantee of variants (if there even is a guarantee this year) I think they'd probably lose 3/4 of attendees if they went the no bottle share route. I think they could even still lose 1-2k people who no longer care about variants.

That seems dubious as it wasn't reported with the rest of the approval and if the town didn't want that they could have shut it down 3 years ago during the last expansion approval, and what purpose would this serve? To prevent people from getting drunk during a 9 hour beerfest? If it doesn't happen it's because FFF doesn't want to do it. If they do want the bottle share the conversation goes like this "So Munster, it seems you have an issue with bottle shares? You do know we haven't asked for any tax breaks for building this, right? You also know that we are on the border with Lansing, IL and could talk them in to building in our current back yard, right? So, tell us again on how excited you are to keep us happy and the bottle share going...."

Edit: FFF should consider doing this bottle share right over the border in Michigan and then with all the abandoned empties with 10 cent refunds they could break even on clean up costs....

In the event that bottle shares ended (which I currently believe about as much as the "vanilla is infected!" stuff every year), the tap list would have to take a major step up to stay as a big draw. Even then, turning it into Huna Day Midwest would hurt.

Not to mention the work they did getting the bottle share codified into state law.

Well, 2010 was a shit show, but there were golden tickets. That was my first year. I forget how much they were but the bottles were paid for in cash as opposed to the "bottles included" price of the past two years. Darklordday.info will have the deets.

This stupid rumor about no more Bottle shares pops up every single year! It’s just as old and dumb as the vanilla infection rumor. Seriously guys, just quit.

This will be my first DLD, assuming it actually happens. This is the absolute best 22 page thread of bullshit I have ever read! Thank you all for the hours of enjoyment

They are bringing the golden tickets back this year with some changes. They will put up 40,000 DLD tickets at $200 a piece and each will have a scratch off section. If you get a winner, you will be one of the lucky 5,000 people to get a DL and variant allocation AND actually get let into the festival grounds.... if you don't get a golden ticket you do not get to go....Good luck
