Tried it on tap. It was a little too sweet for me. But as far as adjunct stouts go, it's pretty good.

IMO best stout they've released since Snowbirds, and possibly one of their best ever. I thought the sweetness was really well-balanced but that's obviously something that is pretty subjective.

No, I'd bet most of these folks are already using Facebook and/or BA to trade.

Reddit was definitely a popular forum for trading, but I don't think it was anywhere near dominant enough to make a dent in the OH lines. I feel like the fb group probably gets most of the trading activity.

Just cracked my first Universal on All Planes, and I can see why some people were disappointed by it. I do actually like it quite a bit, but there is definitely something weird and different about it.

Feel free to ship me the balance

In all seriousness, have seen a couple of people say it was improved after letting it sit for a while. May want to give it another 7-10 days and try again.

Reddit's beer trading sub had a decent bit of volume, and that volume will just shift to other platforms. Sure it's a hassle for some, but hard to see it having any meaningful impact on the trading scene.

Would assume until proven otherwise this will have no impact on the OH line. The line will continue to be driven by specific release demand, weather, other brewery releases on the same day, and randomness. Yes there are always some traders present, but most of those people are either doing in-person trades or trading through another platform, and I would wager that on any given day, probably less than 15% of the line are active traders. With some exceptions, most people waiting on the line are doing it for their own personal consumption.

I would say you are right, accept for that initial line that forms overnight where they are all maxing out on each beer. They are likely trading or muling most of the beer. Any one rolling in later like myself is likely just grabbing some for themselves or their close friends

I actually did like it, I was just saying I could tell why some people weren't in love with it..

i'm surprised they didn't use any belma or even el dorado in this, given the usage of strawberries.

I wouldn't be surprised if BA and Facebook start cracking down on trading due to changes to the
    Communications Decency Act

Yeah, same here! Although the commercial description of Huell Melon hops does prominently mention aromas of "freeze dried strawberries," so perhaps they covered their bases with that one!

I heard some people got letters in the mail i think from Pennsylvania about shipping alcohol too. Could become a trend.

I’ve used Huell Melon in a few blonde ales and it definitely displays a berrie quality. However, it is a very subtle hop that I feel would get drowned out by larger ABV and/or hopped up beers.

huell melon tends to be more of a "3rd string" type hop, citra will completely outshine it, even if say the hopping rate was like 3:1 in favor of huell. Huell Melon definitely works better in lighter beers - like maybe a lager. Should still be an interesting beer and i am sure it'll be decisive lol.

my biggest (recent) disappointment was a 6% IPA I brewed that was moderately hopped with Huell Melon and Mandarina Bavaria with the smallest amount of Amarillo in the second dry hop...I also used sacch trois. talk about an underwhelming beer.
