Even funnier to me is when someone mentions that this beer or that beer is "turdin' it up" wherever they live. Can never seem to not smirk when I read that phrase.

This seems all a rehash of an old topic, but I do not for a minute think that craft beer snobbery has diminished or will any time soon. I'm not sure it's getting worse per se, but for me it has become much more noticeable - maybe I am just getting cranky as I approach senior citizen status and it bothers me more when I do see it.

Just because I have my cupboard stocked with some pretty nice beers that I really enjoy drinking (and will share with anybody who wants to try 'em) doesn't make me a snob. I won't even throw any defense up on that statement either - I don't have to.

As was already said, some people are assholes. Period.

I dunno - maybe it isn't as big of an issue, but I have definitely seen first hand the "mine's better than yours" attitude in some home brewing circles.

Instagram-culture has simply made craft beer assholishness more obvious.

Take "craft beer" out of the sentence and score it for the win.

If that article was supposed to be funny the humor must have went right over my head.

Less is more. Saw that phrase related to whisky, maybe it suits beer also. Think about a crisp lager, the subtleness of it.

Although sometimes less is more, a lot of times more is more. Just sayin'.

I want to visit with Anthony Bourdain, chow on fried platypus brains, drain a few Buds and discuss the snobbery of trying to not be a snob. Ya is or ya ain't. This all seems to be over-intellectualizing the pleasure of beer...

Yeah, I have seen that as well. It really depends on the club too. The consumption aspect of that mindset (have vs. have not) won't change. It is just more prevalent in craft beer, because that is purely consumption. With home brewing there is a creative component that factors into the equation.

Back to your point, I have seen what you're talking about. Though, every once in a while one of my partial boil, short boil, all-extract beers cooked up in my soup pot has been able to beat out guys in comps brewing on 3 vessel, HERMS setups. I actually like the challenge trying to buck convention and make something that earns a ribbon.

That humbles some and inspires others. Shows the new guys you don't need a ton of money or a complicated setup to make award winning beer. Not saying its the best way to accomplish it, but it can be done.

I only drank Miller High Life when I was in Las Vegas for several days. I want to purge my stomach anytime I here a can of Miller High Life/Lite pop open within 5 feet.

    Fun trip though.

I think we all enjoy a liitle macro now and again. When its Mexican food time, you won't see me drinking a 12% BA stout, but you'll sure has heck see me drinking a nice cold Pacifico with lime. Always have at least 6 in the fridge. Not all of us sit in line or spam FB trade channels.

Lots of folks opine that there is a time and place for the diversity of beer styles available to us.

Permit me to share an old story. I was out to dinner with my wife and friends at a beer bar/restaurant. I had a number of beers that BAs would classify as craft beer at the bar. When we finally go seated for dinner I decided to order some hot Buffalo Wings for dinner. I also placed an order for a beer: Coors Light. The look on my wife's face as I ordered that beer was priceless. After the waitress left my wife exclaimed: I can't believe you ordered that shitty beer!! My response: It was the right choice for the meal I ordered.

    I stand by that decision!!

    Cheers!

P.S. Another great beer/food pairing. Last summer I ordered crabs (blue crabs) and Stella Artois. They went perfect together at that particular meal.

Stella is a good clean beer that won't muddle up a delicate crab, good choice

I drank my first BCBS out of the bottle. Is that non-snobby enough or do I have to break out the solo cups?
