What beer are you drinking now? #1981

Feeling expansive this morning . . .



A pretty color of coppery gold with white cap and good lacing.

Aroma of pine and citrus with something lingering that I'll call herbal. I can tell there's malt in there but it's not putting up much of a fight against the hops.

Taste at first is sharply, firmly hoppy held on a tight rein. They're there prancing around but not running away. I get the pine resin and grapefruit but also a hint of something like sweet orange. Not a bitter orange like Bergamot, rather nicer like Valencia. Malt is present as a solid base but each time I think I taste it something hoppy runs in shining bright enough to cast the malt into shadow. A complex array of flavors that work well together.

Medium full texture with balancing carbonation.

Is there really a reason to supercharge an IPA? Perhaps, perhaps not, but when presented with a lack of choice I'm reminded of Henry Ford's comment to his Model T customers they could have any color they wanted so long as it was black. Beer options and more options, I want them all from 4% to more than twice that. Life itself offers limited options to most of us so when it comes to beer I want to run barefoot through the hop fields.

 

Old Speckled Hen Nitro for breakfast.

 

Its canned every week and most stores I frequent get about 5 cases a week so I hope you dont go through too much trouble to find it cheers

Some common roots good fortune.. Another local brewery making a killer neipa... I was happy with their bright light dipa but this takes it up a notch cheers
