    Hello VA'ers,
I will be in the Winchester area for 2 weeks in April & looking for a few 1st rate breweries within an hour drive of Winchester. I see there are a few places in Leesburg & one in Bluemont. Can anyone steer me to their favorite choices or should I head in a different direction for quality VA beer or maybe WV?
    Thanks for the help! Cheers

Adroit Theory will probably get recommmeded. Never been to the brewery but have had some of their bottled beers. I’ve been to Dirt Farm in Bluemont. The view is awesome. The beers not so much. This was about a year and a half ago and they were fairly new so maybe it’s better now. If it’s a nice day, it’s probably worth going for the spot alone and hopefully the beers have improved.
Edit: It was 2.5 years ago when I went to Dirt Farm.

Second Adroit Theory. If you’re going and like BBQ, stop by Monks and pick up some food to take to Adroit. Monks BBQ also has a decent selection of local beers on draft.

I’d recommend Crooked Run in Leesburg. Decent variety and they make some solid IPAs.

If you’re willing to extend your radius slightly beyond 1 hour, Ocelot and Aslin are the best breweries in the area in my opinion. Aslin is only open Thur-Sun and you can only pick up cans. Most of their beers are NE style IPAs. Ocelot has a great tap room and is starting to can. They make a wide range of beers, but with a focus on IPAs.

Thanks guys, I will definitely check out Adroit & the BBQ. And yes, I can venture out further. I have a full wknd free, so I'll look into Ocelot & Aslin. Thanks again for the tips!

If you plan to check out Aslin do that on a Saturday. Someone more local could probably comment further but I am pretty sure, thanks to town red tape, they only offer cans to go (no pours / on site consumption from the tap room). They release new cans every Thurs & Saturday so if you go on Sat. there's the ability to get what's released that day plus the carry over from Thurs. They are open Thurs - Sun so you could easily get cans of something any of those days but if there's something released with low case counts that may strike you then release days would be the best I'm sure. Be sure to check their Facebook or Instagram for details of what's being released / case counts / limits/ etc. Ocelot and Aslin are definitely two of the most talked about breweries in that area.

Thanks for the heads up on the best days to visit Aslin. I will make sure to be there on Sat morning when they open. I'll head over to Ocelot after the Aslin stop...Those sure must be some unpopular alcohol ordinances in Herndon, I've never heard of that before:angry:! Thanks again for the info. Cheers
