Too late. With the early ticket release fiasco they decided to move the fest up to today. It was the best DLD ever- the lines were so short, but I guess that subject to change stuff and moving up the fest probably contributed to less people. Was really nice of them to open up multiple variant sales since they had so many unclaimed.

 

Fewer people.

This may be a lawless wasteland, but... oh, wait, no, carry on.

 

A friend of a friend who's 2nd cousin is related to a bartender at the brewpub says people who weren't refunded will receive vintage DL.

I think people are still seething over the whole ticket sales before the ticket sales thing. Although, the first person that misses out on tickets and rants on here will create a shit storm. Then you will see an explosion of posts. What you are experiencing (or not experiencing at the moment) is the calm before the storm.

Yeah, but is Mikerphone fest or DLD gonna be better?

Both feature unlimited 2oz pours. One is from vendors, one is from neckbeardstrangers.

Both feature music. One is music from kids (because kids seeing weird drunk guys mill around is appropriate), one is music from nihilists (we believe in nothing, Lebowski!).

Both feature barrel age stouts. One has said stout in little teeny tiny bottles, one may not actually feature barrel age stouts (details subject to change without notice).

How has no one mentioned the included tote bag yet?! I thought the free tote was an annual favorite.

 

If we are just talking base beer, I would rather have Bean Spirit over DL every day. Maybe DL was impressive 13 years ago, but I can grab a 12-15% abv prune/sugar stout on most shelves. Occasionally I meet someone who loves DL, but they seem few and far between. DLD is great though for people, bands, and the 15% chance you'll get a decent barrel aged DL.

 

I thought last year's regular DL was the best one I've had and a very good beer in general. I had huge regrets trading a few away for Huna 17 which I thought was a sweet, sugary mess. I wasn't the biggest fan of DL 16 though. That was extremely sweet.
