Thinking about making my first DLD this year but what’s up w having to buy pours? Are all the pours from the breweries large or taster sized? How much are they? Fixed price or does it vary? Seems odd to charge a bunch of $ for entry and to go beer and then charge for food and beer on top of that. Huna Day includes unlimited tasters and 5 food tickets on top of the beer.

 

Huna tickets are more expensive and don't include a barrel aged variant. If tickets to DLD were $250-300 I would agree with you.

 

Trust me, you'll get fucking wasted on great beers without spending a cent if you bring some decent bottles of your own

Prices are usually $5 for regular and $10 for BA beers if I recall correctly, and they're usually stupid big pours. Not tiny tasters like Huna day. They give you a fucking pint of the non-BA stuff, and maybe 8 ounces? of the BA stuff.

Your ticket price at DLD pays for your bottles and that's it. Pretty close to $25/regular and $50/variant but I'm too far deep into this BADL to look or care about this year's prices to do the math.

 

Every beer is $5.

There’s 2 sizes. Pint size for standard beers/IPAs/lagers/mid range abv stuff.

9oz for higher abv and rare stuff.

You could very easily attend the fest, get blackout drunk, and not pay for a single draft beer if you wanted to go that route as well.

I prefer to wait until AFTER I have tickets so I don't "nap" during the sale.

 

I think it might have varied at some point. I'm about 90% sure I got 3 pours of Ronaldo for $15 last year. Before someone says it, they weren't all for me and I was mostly coherent last year.

More power to Cigar City for the included stuff, but when locals drop $200+ at GI BCBS releases regularly in Chicago, they don't get the metal band, bottle shares or shit show like DLD includes. DLD is a great deal.

 

I think some years there were $5 / $10 pours and other years all $5 but just different pour sizes. Pretty sure everything was $5 last year, but things get ... hazy
