I'm under my goal weight for the week and ran 2 miles for the first time in forever, so I rewarded myself by driving up to EQ and buying calorie dense beer! Even More Unbalanced is pretty damn amazing for a triple. It's got a big body and smells amazing. It's got a boozy taste, but that's to be expected from a 10%. I kinda wish I bought more than a 4 pack, but also I'm kind of glad I didn't.

Entirely fine with premium prices on crowlers--we're not talking about some of the NY grocery stores that charge you $18 for a crowler before telling you that you also have to pay $3 for the can itself, here. Prices are reasonable.

Takes more labor to fill them and it gives you more options when you visit. HVB does the exact same thing and I like having the opportunity to try a beer I might have missed otherwise, even if it's costing me roughly as much as a couple draft pours.

This Saturday 3/31 from 11:30am-6pm at the brewery we will be selling bottles of Austin Plum. $15 per bottle. Limits set at 6 bottles per person, limits subject to change.

Austin (6.0%ABV) is a farmhouse ale built by the inspiration to share beer with people close to heart. It is pale, tart, delicate, and complex with a bit of pleasant funk. Austin was then refermented on plums at a rate of more than 2 lbs of fruit per gallon for additional months. The result is a bright stone-fruit character boosted by the expression of our microorganism. This beer is unfiltered, unpasteurized, naturally carbonated and will continue to evolve over time if properly cellared.

    More to come...

Plum is my favorite TABA so far, this likely will be great.

No idea if it's up to date, but on their website it says they have 10 cases left.

so, i originally planned to hit Other Half tomorrow to get Easter beers, but they sold out today. Trying to get to EQ tomorrow for like Noon-ish or so, they should have a good supply to last through the line right? not sure how the bottle may impact the "hype" so to say

Last weekend, my friends got there at 2:00 and got both releases with no problem...including a collab with Evil Twin...I would think you'd have no problem.

Those were both double batches so if these are too then you are correct

Hudson Valley has a huge release tomorrow so I bet it isn't so crazy at EQ. OTOH dHop3 sounds like an awesome beer. Ya never know I guess.

That plum sour looks amazing. I've been really impressed with EQs sour game.

First trip to EQ, got there around 12:30 or so. Had about a 15 minute wait or so. They sold out of mc, but had the plum and dhop, I also picked up a crowlers of vulgar. Pretty chill experience.

    Had dhop 9 last night.

The beer was pretty underwhelming to be honest. Not bad, but not amazing either.

A fine DIPA that's description and spec profile supersede the actual drinking experience.

I have been disappointed with few EQ beers lately, dhop 8 being without a doubt one of them. Not sure if anything has changed EQ recently, I did hear a while back that they no longer have a connection with the restaurant upstairs anymore and might have undergone some financial issues. Maybe this has caused some short comings in brewing, not sure.

I was a huge fan of the hoptimization series and their fractal series back when they had their older can art.

Not a regular on here BTW so I do lack being "informed".

The restaurant and the brewery relationship has not affected the brewery financially but probably hurt the restaurant and the downstairs taproom (the restaurant owns that taproom). They do not get the line-up of EQ beers and do not fill growlers anymore. The brewery regulars tend to eat at Holy Dog, which is in close walking distance and avoid the taproom (where they used to hang out and drink before).

The brewery does have crowlers and the can/bottle sales on Saturday.

I personally liked dHop9 and dHop8 has gotten better with time (and I let it warm up before drinking it as they suggested online). Generally, the beers and can art has improved.

"City of Middletown Mayor Joseph M. DeStefano announced the sale of the TD Bank building (City owned property) located in downtown Middletown to Equilibrium Brewery for the expansion of their business. With this expansion will come a Tap Room and eventually a restaurant & beer garden. They are hoping to complete the project this year and potentially doubling the size of their workforce. Congratulations to the City of Middletown BID and chamber member Equilibrium."-from press reelease.

Hopefully we can all come together and congratulate both the city of Middletown and Equilibrium for this great news for beer lovers. I have had family in the area for my entire life, and have seen Middletown's ups and downs, (mostly downs in recent history), and it is great to hear a success story where there has not been one lately.

Haven't had much EQ so can't really compare contrast too much. while the dhop3 release this week was good, it wasn't anything outstanding. To be honest I expected it would be a bit better given that it used mosaic, citra, galaxy hops and EQ's reputation. Glad I got more than a 4pk, glad I got less than a case. I'd drink it, but I wouldn't go back to EQ solely for it.

But, I do look forward to seeing how the beer matures over the next few weeks, and I'll totally make my way back to EQ for future releases.

Been trying to refrain from comments, but this is just silly IMO. EMU is easily the best triple IPA I have ever had, and it isn't close. I sent and offered cans to friends, and all of them were blown away as well. Better than all the OH anniversaries (which I love), Triple Cream (which sucks), or whatever you want to compare it to that is 10% and in the realm.

dHop9 is also fantastic. I had all 3 OH collabs (Answer, Monkish, HH) from the other week side by side, and dHop9 shames those beers.

That said, I am very happy there are enough people who don't agree. Limits lasting the line is a great thing, especially when the beer is better.
