    Oh man, are you ever on point! They poured it in one opening of the faucet on the large barrel keg on the counter. The malt character of that beer was totally amazing. Triple decoction, perhaps? The monastery and restaurant made me wish to retire next door one day.

    Not IPA # 5 but good in its own way. This has a very nice pine and citrus aroma and taste. DDH definitely shines through. I appreciate the nuances of this more after my Simcoe assault.[​IMG]

    I just see random breweries on the shelf in the German section and pick stuff up besides the usual big(but good) breweries. Most of the time they're winners like Andechs.
    Black Nun Imperial Porter from Neuzelle Brewery is another random find that was amazing. German porter? wtf? it was delicious

    Excellent fruit beer! Great head retention and foamy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big juicy and lightly tart/tangy raspberries, passion fruit, red apple, strawberry, melon, and hibiscus; with moderate caramel, wheat, lightly toasted bread malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy earthiness. Very mild herbal/floral/grassy bitterness and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; creamy/bready wheat; light fruit tang/acidity and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing tart/tangy fruit dryness, no cloying sweetness. Very flavorful/refreshing, 6%. Spot on fruit wheat ale, wouldn't change a thing. Big juicy fruit presence, with a nice malt backbone. Will keep buying this, pretty sure it's year round. Really similar to Rubaeus.

    2016 is tasting fantastic! Intense flavors of grapefruit, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, and pine hops; with raisin, plum, fig, cherry, date, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Large sized pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied; balanced bready creaminess and sticky/resinous hops in the mouthfeel. Quickly increasing resin dryness, touch of hop astringency, smooth sipper. This is one of the most aggressive American Barleywines out there, but I always love it. Classic Chinook, Centennial, Cascade resinous hop profile with balancing malts. Still some packs lingering around of this vintage. Got a fresh pack recently as well, and I love it both fresh and aged for different reasons.
