HVB is one of the best things to happen to the Beacon economy in the past decade.
The diners, bars, restaurants and to some extent stores/museums/airb&b's, have all seen an uptick as a direct result of their release system getting many to spend 3-4 hours pumping $ into other beacon businesses. The town loves this brewery and as they start doing weekly releases they'll love them even more.

If the police need to start cracking down on drinking it will be an easy adjustment, just making sure you consume drinks within the near vicinity of their patio. No a big deal.

Weren't the cops called last time for noise complaints, not the drinking? People are never going to stop drinking in line, its just not gonna happen...

It should be noted that there is absolutely no need for a line at this point. There was plenty of beer. 300 people on line at 7am is stupidity. That's what is going to get them in trouble, the drinking will just be the excuse.

They did and reminded many people not to do it but it still continued.

Hey, I understand the opinions here. The same could be said of Tired Hands or Aslin and yet....

any brewery that's good enough to have people waiting hours in line for a release is going to stimulate its local economy, yeah. I'm sure Middletown and Holy Dog are thrilled with EQ as well.

the town will weigh complaints from a handful of residents against $$. $$ usually wins in politics.

I had a chance to visit HVB on 17 March when I was in the area (I live in London now but I grew up about 20 minutes from Beacon). They happened to have had a release the day before, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. However, it was very quiet and laid back. Ultrasphere was on tap and cans of Hyperlight were still available. Neither blew me away, but were both very solid beers. It is great to know there is a place to go if I'm back again for a family Christmas or something.

This release seemed a little less noisy than mirror/star.

Amusing: people seemed to be actively avoiding the patio area before the sun came up. When I walked the line around 6AM, there were 5 people drinking on there, while everyone else was in line with cups (or asleep in their cars).

I got a body language vibe from one of the people who live in the station house that the noise levels were still too high. Definitely a few people whooping it up way too early in the morning. Side note, why is/are the loudest person/people always wearing the same self-made hoodies?

Can't speak for Aslin but don't get me started at Tired Hands...

If HVB was like TH, all you'd need to do is drop your chair in line at midnight, then roll back at 11:55am and be in/out in 20min with your beer.

TH's defense "we can't determine who is inside drinking and who just dropped a chair and left and so we can't enforce a no-chair policy" but in reality, 85% of the people dropping chairs and coming back at 4.. hell there is even a line to drop chairs at noon, since u can't do so before then.

I hate TH release policy btw

I was more referring to the ongoing conflict they’ve had with Aardmore. Sand City recently had some major league issues so just in general it seems like more and more of the small towns that the occasional hyped brewery finds itsef in are getting frustrated by the crowds. I guess I was just curious because the last release I went to was a tad more restrained (Amorphia & Noumena). Things are growing real fast a Hudson and I suspect we’re slowly getting to the point where HVB will have to find a better way to control the crowds. Maybe I’m wrong, etc.

These are the same losers that spend hours drinking outside a brewery parking lot in the middle of the night and call it "culture". They behave like children on the facebook groups and get upset when anyone questions their idiocy. I cant tell you how many times they've insulted people for suggesting that what they do is hurting breweries in the long run. The same guy that whined about being cut in line at HVB also complained about having to deal with the cops being called on him. He also freaked out and changed the name of all the trading groups because of some fake letter someone reselling beer in PA claimed to have been sent from the police. These guys don't provide any useful information to anyone asking for advice then throw tantrums when people suggest their antics are creating unnecessary hype.

Do you know where I like to spend hours sharing beers with my friends, grilling and being loud? My house, like a grown man. #hazebois #linelyfe #linesharekings

I don't like it at all. Actually, neither of the cans are really doing it for me. I'm not very good at articulating exactly what I like or dislike about beers, but they are probably my two least favorite HVB beers I have had to date.

I thought it worked. The peppermint is very faint and kinda blends in with the creaminess of the whole beer. I don’t think eithwr beer from Saturday is incredible but they turned out better than I would have guessed.

Plumage out of the keg seemed wayyyyyy mintier than out of the can to me, but my palate was in different places each time I tried it. I'm just not a huge grapefruit fan, so I wasn't expecting to be in love with this beer. The GF loves it.

Bloom, on the other hand, is really working for me. I was expecting another beer with some cough syrup in the finish (sorry, Ultrasphere) but the flavors work perfectly together and the cherries aren't too tart, bitter, or medicinal.

I don't mind the lines, even if they're objectively a huge waste of time. I've been an early arrival to the last few releases, but I tend to keep it low key and hang with the same group of friends. I also avoid Draught Industries on release days -- "no one goes there anymore, it's too crowded."

You sound like a jealous teenager who didn't get invited to the party at the cheerleaders house on Friday night. Why don't you worry about doing what makes you happy instead of worrying about the fun that others are having?

I recently picked up a can of Incandenza and a can of Incandenza with Galaxy in a trade and drank both of them at the same time so I could compare the two. I've never had a sour IPA before so I had no expectations. Both beers tasted like extremely hoppy sours, and I did not enjoy either beer at all. My wife, who loves sours, also thought both beers did not taste good. Is Incandenza indicative of the Sour IPA style?

Yes, and someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that Incandeza itself is the base that many of their beers then are mixed from (some BA's posted some cool articles on this thread; I am too lazy to repost and was too lazy to read too carefully). I have had most of their cans, and I think the similarity to Incandeza, with flavors added, is accurate. However, unlike either of the Incandezas you tried, many of the other cans have stronger adjunct flavors that can be very interesting (strawberry shortcake in some, apple pie in others). I personally enjoy the HVB I drink; every palate is different but these do not seem like etremely hoppy as I personally taste them; however, for many who like the IPAs and sours (but there are lots of different sub-classes of sours that I have been too lazy to learn about) that we are getting these days, I can see how these may not be for you.
