And one of the people who spoke as a customer to support Sand City was a lawyer who works in similar capacity of trustee, boards, etc., the chairman never challenged any of the other people who spoke, he got real testy with this guy and went head to head with him.

Found this on Newsday from last month.

“Your success creates problems for the village,” said board chairman Andrew Cangemi at the hearing. “This was never supposed to be a bar. It was never supposed to be more than the allowance to give them small tastes so they can sell there, and it’s turned out to be something significantly more than that.”

Man this is some pretty crazy levels of NIMBY-ism, I'm confused as to why they approved it in the first place, what did they think would happen?

Most of the breweries on Long Island get the traffic that the town would've been okay with. Sand city is an anomaly that gets talked about when people talk about top 10.in the country.

Trillium canton, you get a card and can only get so many pours. Sand city could implement a system like this and the testing room would be for tasting and buying cans growlers.. like trillium.

Supposedly sand city will.jabe another location, let that be "the bar" and northport could just be an alternative outlet.

I know you guys love SC down there but I really hope they decide to move out of the area and come to where the townspeople love the idea of bringing in money and people, and the folks making the decisions about shit are the same ones at the tap room standing next to you and enjoying the same beer with you. Of course I am talking about the real NYS beer destination, Hudson Valley.

Haha only half serious. Hopefully you guys on LI get a break. I grew up on LI, and despite the fact that I hated LI, and actually had a calendar and crossed off the days until I could escape, what is happening in Northport is bullshit, and I hope it works out well for all involved.

Is this a new thing at Trillium? I’ve been to Canton about a half dozen times, most recently in October, and never noticed the card system. Last time I went I tried almost everything on tap (I wasn’t driving, for fucking once).

Sucks for locals, the limited pours could be so restrictive that it will effectively kill tap room as a place to hang out. So many people were so passionate about the goodness of having that tap room and the good for the community, it is reprehensible for town to shut them down for so long for the horrible act of selling beer. God only knows how much money this has cost them, what a terrible thing to do to a business. Any business would be insane to open up in that town. Hopefully somehow some way karma kicks whoever is responsible for this square in the nuts.

This is like the opposite of how it is in almost the entire rest of the state.

They definitely used to do it, it was a 20 oz limit, same as i assume it is now in 5 or 10 oz pours. They’d give you a little card with 4 spots.

I think they did it to make the beer last longer probably cause they were mobbed most of the first year so that in the event they didn’t have cans they could assure they had pours.

There were definitely several days where they took the limit off and I think they announced they were done with it last year sometime but I can’t find anything in a quick google search

EDIT: tried a little harder and found it, stopped last Feb,

I’m drinking a 2-month old Soup Vic Secret....it is still amazing. The color, smell and taste are all still top notch. Most of my SC beers don’t last 2 months, but I’m constantly surprised at how good they still are.

So power of 2 is average at very best. Wonder why the 2s have been so much more blah than the 1 beers

I thought the can I had earlier was a bit too sweet. It mellowed out as it warmed.

This batch of Oops is stellar. Tons of pine.

Agree, Oops is fantastic. Anyone know what hops they use? I tried to go back on their Instagram feed but they never really say.

Damn, you guys are making me regret not getting any Oops. I had to get the Gose as a birthday present for someone and I opted for 2 4s of the DIPA. Only so much money I can spend. I have a lot of IPAs in the house now and not a lot of strong DIPAs.
