Hell no. You're excited. It's cool. Looks like a good list too. Plus half the fun for pasty white neckbeard dorks like myself who don't get out of Mom's basement much is figuring out what the heck some of these beers are or where they are from.

Be careful. I’ve seen close friends make the BT mistake deep into the festival. Not a pretty sight.

My suggestion is open that bad boy early and take a tiny pour!

My bottle share experience last year taught me that bringing bottles local to your area are generally popular. For instance, my bottles of Columbus Brewing Company Bodhi and Creeper were very popular. Also very popular were my barrel aged bottles from Jackie O's who is based in Athens, OH. Therefore, my strategy this year will be to focus on bringing bottles which are generally only available in and around Columbus, OH. Some examples:
    • CBC Creeper
    • Four String Maple Syrup Bourbon Barrel Aged Motorbreath
    • Jackie O's Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee Vanilla Bean Dark Apparition
    • Jackie O's Spirit Beast
    • Wolf's Ridge Bourbon Barrel Coffee Joy
    • Wolf's Ridge Bourbon Barrel Yub Nub

Had some downtime last night, so my fiancé and I I figured out what we will be bringing to share:
    • Beets, Rhymes, & Life
    • Arthur
    • Civil Disobedience 16
    • Fear & Trembling
    • Silent Nights
    • Rock Art Red Wine BA Stout
    • La Bonte (2015; pre-InBev bottle!)
    • fresh Tree House/Alchemist hops

This is a good point. People will drink it (I think I had three small Bruery pours last year), but it could also be a quick route to internet fame. Some people may politely decline due to the ABV.

Very good approach! My general recommendation when people ask what they should bring is brewery only/limited distro locals. The one possible exception is Chicago because there are a lot of FIBS at the fest, but my Mikerphone stuff still went fast last year.

I think I may only bring Bruery stouts:

    Black Tuesday '16
    Chocolate Rain '17
    PB& Thursday '17
    Grey Monday '16

I typically don't show up until later in the day when perhaps people are being more picky but in recent years I find most people (maybe 75%) aren't interested in trying anything they don't recognize. So the big name breweries (HF, BL, etc.) and big name beers go over well but the more obscure local beers don't. If I bring a vanilla rye everyone is going to be all over me, if I bring Framzwartje from Funk Factory (something far rarer and slightly higher rated) most people are going to turn it down. That said, screw most people, I still think bringing local stuff people haven't had before is how it should be and I miss the days when people were begging me to bring more New Glarus shelfies. It makes it harder to find people to share with but whatever, there are cool people there, you just gotta work harder to find them, especially later in the day.

Just don't let your buddy wander off on his own with half a bottle of a Bruery Stout. You might not see him again for the rest of the fest. #BlackTimsDay

I have gotten to try so many beers that are out of distro and brewery only releases from great people at DLD. So even being from the Midwest, I have started bringing beers from out of the area and of course my favorite local & brewery only haze from Corridor. And yes I will be politely declining BT

    Tentative list :
    Last Buffalo
    MoaS
    Carpe Diem
    Coffee Abraxas
    Fresh Corridor Haze

I have seen this as well. Near the end of the fest two years ago a totally roasted dude was trying to open a BT, I kept saying NO MAN NO DON'T DO IT!

    He did it.

I'll probably be bringing some of my TBBW haul, AC, Arkane, CCB, and maybe some Jester King and sort of local Ohio stuff. I'll narrow it down closer to the fest to keep the thread red hot :stuck_out_tongue:

For all the rookies, I would recommend not bringing Bruery beers. Not because the ABV but because they typically tap a few throughout the day. In 2015 they had Black Tuesday, White Chocolate, Mocha Wednesday, and Chocolate Rain on tap throughout the day. Same situation for Firestone Walker.

I am keeping my list for 2018 simple:
Copperhead Brewery - Barrel Aged King of Terrors
Copperhead Brewery - Barrel Aged Marshmallow Creme King of Terrors
Copperhead Brewery - Barrel Aged Coconut King of Terrors
Copperhead Brewery - Barrel Aged Maple Syrup King of Terrors

That’s so sad! I love people who bring their local favorites, because they’re usually proud of them, and it’s a natural conversation starter.

I concur, fuck those guys. I, and I'm sure many on here, would happily drink all of your Funk Factory.
