Ha ha. Fair point. I guess I'm mostly wondering how similar or different it is to BT Port.

For at least the last 2 years they’ve let people in in advance of the start.

has anyone tried making mimosas with bruesicles instead of OJ? seems like this would taste awesome, and maybe cut down on some of the bruesicle sweetness. i'm anxious to try to myself but don't want to open a bottle of champagne just for me ... i should probably just give in though and do it.

also curious to hear thoughts on BT Port vs BT Red Wine.

Personally, I like the red wine MUCH better. The port was weird for me and many others. Very dry and felt like it was missing something. Wasnt a huge fan. Red wine was crazy. Lots of wine flavors very reminiscent of Wineification, sorta (since winification is still mainly bourbon barrels). Red wine comes through strong. Baerely any booze compared to regular BT. Decedant/rich. I would love to try it in a few years and Ill buy a bottle for this.

    And while we're at it...

Cherry Chocolate Rain, eh, not for me. No vanilla. Taste like CR at first but lots of cherry on the back end. I dont like cherry in my stouts. Not too mention the 19% beers are getting old for me. (still loved red wine BT howeever). Not buying

Coffee is Life, good but not great. Nothing special. I will still buy a bottle or 2 just to have on hand.

Les Ronces was not as good as I remember the original batch tasting. Less boysenberry than I remember. B1 was sooo juicy. Might get a few 375s

Etain. Taste like another anny ale. But I agree with earlier statements that Bois and Sucre are better. Still buying bottles.

Enjoyed Frucht guava and I always stock up on bottles becuase its cheap.

Annuel. I was not a fan. IDK why. Its 11% and was just not the sour blonde I was expecting. its a dark sour. Wont be buying.

Im no cicerone taste bud pallet master, so hope this helps

Really? I'm almost certain that I was walking in the gates past the start time. When they first did it, there was no line outside the gates prior to the start and people were lined in front of the first keg they wanted 5-10 minutes prior to the start time. I have arrived at least 30-60 minutes prior to the start for the past 5+ years.

Anyone have any input on how Red Wine BT compares to Yount?

Ok, this may have been covered earlier, but I can't find it. So, is BT Wine, BT then aged in wine barrels for additional time? Or, is it the base beer only wine barrel aged? No bourbon barrel influence at all? Or is that just yount, wineification, vindictive, etc..

Is BT Port barrel done the same way?

I just opened a bottle of BT Port over the weekend and it was my first time trying it. While I'm not a regular wine drinker, I liked this variant a lot. It was a little astringent and dry. But I though it was good. Just trying to establish a base line for future purchases.

This is a follow up to my question above. Now that I've read more of the Untappd reviews, seems like people didn't like the sweetness that BT port had and favor more wine flavor of the BT wine. Is this true with you guys as well?

I happened to like the sweetness of BT port because it balanced the tannin's of the wine. Kind of like the sweet and sour balance of Befuddlement. But maybe that's just me. I like 'em sweet.

Yes. And I think red wine BT is base beer in wine barrels only, no bourbon. Same with Port. Winification and Vindictive have bourbon barrel aging

Yes. I’ve been in the first 10-15 people in line for the last 4-5 years. And the last two, maybe three, years i was standing at a tap waiting for the start. The first time I remember getting a pour of BT Reserve about 10 minutes early as I don’t think they realized they weren’t supposed to start pouring yet.

Thanks for clarifying! I'll keep my fingers crossed it will be business as usual this year and make sure I get there to make the best use of the 30 minutes this year.

This is where I find out most of my bruery news, I was sad to see there was nothing new over the weekend too haha. I did make it in to the DC location this weekend and wow were their chocolates good that they made with the white chocolate cherry beer! It was a milk chocolate candy with a liquid center. If they're still around and anyone is close enough I highly suggest picking some up!

Though not as exciting as actual beer,I was pretty pleased to see the email just now about them implementing a new shipping process they hope will turn orders around faster. Has definitely been slow lately.

I was talking with the staff working at Terreux yesterday and they mentioned that Bruesicle + vodka works pretty well, also Bruesicle + champagne. I haven't tried either yet, but it's interesting!

Friend opened a '13 Chocolate Rain at a share this weekend.

Sweet mess with no cocoa nibs remaining. I don't think anyone finished their tasters.

I was only one that wanted to do the '14 Grey Monday instead. :pensive:

Call me a n00b, but why would you sit on an adjunct stout for that long?

I personally haven't been able to sit on a beer for 5 years, but I traded for a '13 recently.

When I opened up a '13 CR recently, it was super fantastic. Sorry to hear about the one you tried.

Did your friend store it properly in a cellar the whole time?

PM me if your friend wants to unload vintage stuff. I'd take the risk.

I often make mimosas with OJ and either Rueuze or Hottenroth. Pretty solid Sunday brunch beverage in my opinion.
