Yes, I picked that one up yesterday. It is nice to see one of the majors brew something that isn't an IPA. This canned version seems, to me, to be better than one offered as a growler fill. I love the hazy look. It will be nice when the heat finally hits NC.

Anheuser Busch with their continued use of beechwood aging (chip casks) and kräusening is likely one of few American breweries who have the infrastructure in place to be able to replicate typical late 1800s American lager beer recipes.

Patrik, you might be interested in watching the below video. The part on lagering on beechwood chips starts at the around the 13:00 mark.

    Cheers!

P.S. Note to others: these beechwood strips are cleaned/sanitized prior to inserting them into the horizontal lagering tanks and subsequently do not impart any wood flavors. They are there simply to provide a resting spot for the lager yeast.

Guess I'll try it, but not expecting much. Running beer over staves for a few seconds won't do much, so perhaps they'll pour some Beam into the Bud to get some whiskey flavor. This Bueam's for you? Or is it Beud?

Maybe you are joking here but I did not see an emoticon.

From the linked article: "then aged in Jim Beam bourbon barrels".

    Cheers!

In a post prior to mine, @jesskidden cited an article that said aged on staves...

I'll try ABOUT anything as long as I can either get it on tap, or cut a bottle or can from the herd. Sure not going to buy a pack, that kind of commitment is like getting married just for a "date".

Honestly everyone, I hate dwelling on this historical stuff. I'm reading now everything that I should have before., so I apologize. My eyes are literally failing me. Would you all please go get checked for glaucoma. It is insidious. It literally comes from the left and right relentlessly.

Anytime there's a discrepancy, I just go with what jk says...but here, in OP's linked article, it cites "According to Esquire," with a clickable link - well you click and Esquire's article says "aged on Jim Beam bourbon barrel staves, according to a press release." So basically Food & Wine doesn't understand copying and pasting.

They lost me when they called budweiser a hoppy beer. Jim beam makes some higher end bourbons (by other names) but I can't imagine budweiser being aged in anything. It's barely drinkable fresh. Had oak aged coors and that was horrible. I may try a single to punish myself...
